Okay so I recently went out and picked up ME2 for the PC. I have played the first one, but never on PC, because I wasn't too keen on the limited installs at release. (I know they fixed that, but now I can't find a copy anywhere)

Anyways, I thought I heard somewhere that you can import ME1 characters, and then change their events a little bit. I then heard someone say that creating a brand new character in ME2 would give you some options to change up the ME1 consequences as well.

However, when I press new game, I am immediately plunged into the game. I'm not complaining, its awesome, but do first time ME2 players who who don't import not get to change their first game consequences? Any help would be appreciated.

With a new character you get to choose the major events, which of your teammate died, who became the human council member and whether or not you saved the council.
This is done later on when you are tested on your memory.

I was the same when I first got it but now I just use this website. http://www.masseffectsaves.com/

EDIT: Just to clarify, most of the saves on that site give you descriptions of which game changing choices were made in the first so you can get more or less whatever you want.

Well, when I got the memory test from Miranda, she didn't ask me what happened, she told me what happened.

When you just pick new game without importing a ME 1 save file, it makes most of the decisions for you, the things i think you can change at the start are your appearance, class, who died on Virmire, and who you selected to join the Council.

EDIT: Damn, ninja'd

No, you can't change anything. Almost all the choices have already been chosen. And all of them are renegade choices (refuse to save Citadel, vote Udina as ambassador, etc). Ashley will die if you play a female, and Kaidan if you're a male, etc.

Yes, BioWare is evil, forcing you to play the prequel.

But masseffectsaves.com, as linked above, is the savior!
