So about three months ago the shit hit the fan for my computer because the hard drive blew up. Long story short i had a computer with all of my games wiped out [except for steam, i love you steam].

Now having seen the new trailer for Mass Effect 3, it suddenly dawned on me that the 5 sheperds that i have [yes, five of them] are now all gone, and I really dont want to go the first game again. Id be fine with going through the second game again, although I would prefer it if the memory could still be found from the Cerberus network or something like that.

So are all my sheperds and playthroughs lost, or is there some way i can recover them?

I'm sorry to say it but I think they're gone...

Edit: Here is something to comfort you

I'm guessing since they're making a 360 version that a computer of comparable power would be able to run it.

not so, as a 360 is a dedicated gaming machine, with all the bells a whistled tacked on, where as a computer is an internet/word proccessor with gaming tacked on.

anyway, your old shepards are lost guy, id hate to say it. you MIGHT ( MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT NOT CONFIRMED MIGHT)get lucky and they may include a comic (like the PS3) so you can do all your choices again, but just to be sure, id take the next year (almost anyway) to go through ME1 and ME2 again. i know i will

Well... crap... well its not like their bad games, i could play through the first game one last time.

The reason I dont want to play it is because I beat the first five times, and the second only two times. :p Guess i shouldn't have played it as much.

Data from blown up hard drives can be recovered, though it costs money to do so.
Odds are, you've probably thrown it out, so there's that.

Soon after that picture was taken, the cat eats the little ducky.

At least the ME games aren't bad, the first one has just aged badly.

You could use the Mass Effect save site to try and get saves that are just like/close to your original saves.

http://www.masseffectsaves.com/

Or you could just manually edit the save in a save editor of some sort.

Nope, they are gone. Sorry. (The same thing happened to me about a year ago, but that was before ME2 came out)

You can start a new game, play through until you get the Normandy SR2, then use a savegame editor to change the plot flags from the first one to what you want them to be, then change the endgame status so it thinks you beat it, then import that ME2 character. You can't just change the ME1 plot flags mid game because it seems to set all associated variables for ME2 on launch of a new game. So changing the flags only affects a new ME2 game.

This is the savegame editor I use (for when I make a ME2 shepard and want a different plot than the one it gives you).

EDIT: OK, a link to the editor is on the site, it's not actually on the site...
