So, I just got my copy of Xenoblade in the mail yesterday! It's an awesome game, I'm really enjoying it, but I have a question about it: how is EXP distributed in this game? Do characters you aren't using in battle get experience? I remember that one of the most annoying things about FF12 (a game Xenoblade is very similar too, lets be honest) was having to grind a lot to keep all six party members leveled- eventually I gave up and just used Vaan, Balthier, and Ashe a lot. Will I be stuck using the same 3-man team in Xenoblade, or will characters I don't use gain a bit of EXP so they stay useful?

No answers, eh? That's dissapointing. I know Escapists aren't keen on RPGs, but come on.
That's certainly not true.

Yes inactive party members in Xenoblade will also gain experience.

Non active party members get like 80%-90%,so you don't have to worry about training them. Also shouldn't you be using google for questions like these.

They gain experience yes, but the only way you can improve the relationship between characters is to have them on the team.

Can't you just give them collectibles they like to raise their relationship?

You give items to your party members?

That's news to me...

Yeah...in the items menu. In the collections tab, you press A on an item and it lets you choose both the giver and the receiver of the item. If they like it, you get relationship points. If they don't like it, they'll lose relationship points.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I literally just got the game a couple days ago, I'm only about 15 hours in, and one of the first things I did was play with the inventory.

I'm actually quite ashamed, considering it's very rare that I'd miss something like that.

I was done with 90% of the game before I found out about this. I know how you feel.
