To anyone who saw Portugal v Ivory Coast yesterday, I have a question. With the score tied, IC had a corner kick awarded to them right at the end of the game, giving them a chance to try and win it. But they didn't try the kick "playing for the draw" the announcer said. Why would they not try??? Is there any risk of losing the game in taking that corner kick?

I didn't see the match but from the description you gave it seems as though they didn't want Portugal to break quickly. Bearing in mind good teams, with fast players (such as Portugal) can attack extremely quickly, they obviously didn't want to take the risk . That and they probably weren't sure of the time played; for all they know there could still be a minute left.

well actually yes, the risk is that IC is not as strong in attack, particulary in corner attacks, so portugal couldve taken back control of the ball and done a very dangerous counter-attack
