Hi there, I've recently acquired Legacy of the Void and I've been loving it. So much in fact that I've decided to replay the previous campaigns. And here's my question. Do the changes made in LotV affect them in any way? Do Reapers gain the regenerative properties they're now known for? Can Helions change into Hellbats? Or are they immutable?

I believe the units in the campaign should be the same as what they were in the patch that was current. Blizzard chose to do thing this way back in Warcraft 3 after some changes introduced in patches also changed how the campaign played, they finally reverted the campaign to use the old ruleset. I'm pretty sure they've stuck to this design decision in StarCraft 2.

No. WoL is the only game in the SC2 trilogy that presents choices, and they're given lip-service in HotS, but otherwise don't affect the overall story. As for units, while you can develop the tech trees/strains/hire mercs in WoL and HotS, they don't affect unit composition in LotV. Note that the nature of army customization differs in all three campaigns, LotV offering the most flexibility.

I was actually asking if replaying the campaigns with Legacy of the Void installed retroactively applied the balanced changes LotV brought. Things like the Thor having two fire modes or zerg having different bonuses in creep and the like.

As far as I'm aware, within the campaign, the units operate independently from changes made to multiplayer. I.e. you'll never be able to produce Hellbats in WoL, even if they've since been introduced in multiplayer. Or for instance, the Reapers don't have the combat drugs property in WoL, even though that was introduced in multiplayer by HotS.

Pity. Thanks

Granted, I waited until LotV came out before buying all 3 games in the triple pack so I don't know if these units were available originally in HotS, but Lurkers are in the HotS campaign and they're one of the new MP units. So too can you get Swarm Hosts with flying locusts in the campaign and I think that was a "new" upgrade in LotV.

In all honesty since I didn't play HotS when it originally came out I probably shouldn't even be talking. :p
