Okay so, I have been giving some thought towards buying a Kindle or something similar recently. The only major stopping point I have before actually deciding which one to get is that they are black and white only. Now this isn't a problem for normal books but it could be a problem for graphic novels, comic books, or magazines.

So my question is this; For anyone who has a Kindle or something similar do you read things with colorized pictures? How do they look on the device? Is it still a decent picture or do they not translate well?

This probably wont help you much but I have never really got the attraction of E-books. I would much rather have a real physical copy which I can hold and feel the paper etc. since its graphic novels you like then I think like me you don't want to have half the product. The art work of graphic novels, the style is what makes them great I don't think you should sacrifice that.

While all of that is true, and I agree with it whole-heartedly, at some point one begins to run out of space to keep all those physical copies. I haven't bought a Kindle or Nook or whatever yet, but I'm definitely considering it. I have 3 bookshelves (~80" x 30" x 12") full to bursting with books, and a couple decently large piles of books laying around on whatever surface happens to be available. I greatly prefer hard copies of my books, but I just don't have the space to get many more.

To answer the OP's question: From what I've seen, the color is fine on the Nook/Kindle. I haven't specifically used one to look at color photos, but I have messed around with a couple and I didn't notice any faults when viewing photos.

If its a space thing Then I can understand to an extent. I too have lots of books, my room is full of them actually. I just don't think that buying an E-reader or an equivilent is worth the money, they don't offer that much value for something that simply saves space which in my eyes is the only valuable thing they do. For the price of a Kindle or E-reader you could quite easily get 10+ paperbacks, or you could alternatively spend the money on something more useful. If anything I see them more as a gimmick.

Oh for sure, and a lot of times e-books are just as expensive (and in some cases moreso) than the physical copy for some utterly arbitrary reason.

They're just convenient to be able to take dozens of books around with you in a very small package and the whole storage space issue. Plus, if you get the 3G model you have wireless internet nigh everywhere and you don't have to pay a monthly fee on it. It's actually one of the bigger pluses to it, for me anyway since I'm still in the bronze age of cellphone technology.

The 3G model with internet sounds like an alright deal, I get the concept you can have all these books that you can carry with you anywhere. Maybe I'm just old fashioned (im not actually that old lol) but I like to keep to a book till I have finished it. If I know I will be traverling then I will take that book with me or I will read it at home. I just don't see the need in being able to carry lots of E-books, not for the price anyway.

This pretty much sums up the reason I am considering it. I too enjoy having physical copies of books most of the time but I am just running out of space and my cats have a habit of chewing on the corners of the book I am currently reading while I am sleeping. Its good to hear that it doesn't harm the quality of pictures much.

Also, I don't read a lot of graphic novels, mostly regular novels. It is just another thing I wanted to consider before paying two hundred dollars for it.
