Question of the Day, April 22, 2010

Though Microsoft still hasn't given word on its final decision, there have been talks about the company getting its own exclusive TV channel for Xbox Live. The service would cost an extra $1-2 a month. We don't know what sort of content the channel would have, but would you pony up the cash to watch it?

Simple answer: No.
Why should I pay for an exclusive channel when I pay already?
Also, I don't watch TV often (Read: If there is Doctor Who, then watch), so there would be no point in me paying for something I would not watch.

If there is decent content, or exclusive content, I'd considering ponying up a few dollars for that. BUT, it would depend on the content.

No, I hardly watch terrestrial/digital/sky television as it is because they don't entertain me. I like to be fully in control of my entertainment.

I like being able to get Sky news on Live for free. But I won't be paying for any exclusive xbox content since the news is the only TV I watch that isn't on the internet. Although Sky news on Live is effectively on the internet, so that means all the TV I watch is on the internet.

Nope, don't actually have any pay-for-tv. I just use on-demand services such as iPlayer and whatnot, works alot better and is alot cheaper than any other method.

Perhaps if the shows were good. $1 or $2 a month isn't too bad, and since I don't have cable anymore, it might be fun!
But it would depend on the content, over all.

I don't have Xbox but the idea of paying for something when you already have to pay is pretty stupid.

It would have to be good, and pretty cheap. And offer something unique that current outlets don't.

Not at all, not in the slightest, never never never. First off because I don't watch that much TV anyways, and secondly because I already pay £150 a year for my TV licence (don't know how much that is in dollars, about $220?) and so am immediately adverse to paying any extra for programs. Also, with the number of TV channels putting their programs on the internet for free (BBC iPlayer, ITVPlayer, 4OD, etc) there seems little point in fronting up extra wonga for extra TV channels.
