They've announced a remake of both Ocarina of Time and Starfox 64 for the 3ds. I have played them both, (a lot) but I absolutely can't resist 2 of my favorite childhood games remade with much improved graphics and 3d on a portable.....plus my N64 recently broke and I haven't played Starfox in at least 5 years. Besides, they may add new content.....we don't have any official details. I'd be willing to bet that Starfox will have improved and wi-fi enabled multiplayer, (and maybe even a few new planets...../pray) and we know that the touchscreen will host the map during play in Zelda and be used as the inventory screen to swap equipment more seamlessly.
I believe Zelda is a confirmed launch title while Starfox's release is yet to be announced.
I see, well if I ever get the money when the time comes, I will get myself a 3ds and get myself a third copy of Starfox. I had it on the 64 of course but lost my copy somewhere in my old house, and then got my second copy when I rejoiced because they released it on the Wii Virtual console market. Though my Wii has been gathering dust since I got my 360 about a couple years ago.
I guess when I get home for Christmas, I'll dust off my Wii and have a classic game night. The day I purchased that virtual copy, was an unusually heavy purchase day. Along with the Starfox, I got the first 3 Super Mario Bros, Street Fighter 2, Punch-out, and Bubble Bobble. A treasure trove of old classics from my childhood.
I love the Wii Virtual console. It is awesome for people that don't have a working old system or something happened to their old games. Also, the 360 marketplace may churn out an okay or great new game every once in awhile, but the Wii Virtual console has a nice back-log of classic old games, that you know what you are buying and really can't go wrong.

HAHA I feel you on that. I don't recall the next level not being able to be unlocked, but I personally refused to go onto the next level until I beat everything prior on the hardest difficulty. And I did it too....up till about level 8 I think, but I remember wasting away hours, especially on the training mission, constantly retrying and failing. But I believe the hardest difficulty in any game should always be ridiculous so I loved it for that.
Well it only had the two modes easy and hard. If a game makes only two difficulty levels, at least make hard be a regular kind of hard. Hard was such an understatement for it; it isn't even funny.
I know a player had to beat both easy and hard to continue onto the next level. I did everything in my power to try and continue onto the next level after beating easy training. I pressed every button, beat easy mode at least 10 times. It would always bring me back to the choose difficulty for this level screen, if I went back further, it brought me to the start screen, and if I went back in it would bring me to that training level again.
And there was no way I was beating it on hard. I'd always come up five capsules short or run out of time. I eventually put the game up and didn't touch it again. I said, "Sorry Captain Falcon, I might as well have you retire and let you keep what little dignity you might have left."
