All I've seen from these publications is a basic trade-off of money for scores. It's pathetic. Even when that isn't the case, it's a company-only or system-only magazine and then it's only a long advertisement.
I'd like to hear some of your favourite gaming magazines, and explain why they aren't like that. I need to hear some positives.

I read GamesTM, they're a pretty reasonable magazine, and I've got a subscription anyway, so I read it for the sake of it.
The UK version of PC Gamer, PC Zone, EDGE and occasionally Retro Gamer.
Also, John 'Log' Blyth is god. Incidentally, I first discovered Yahtzee (under Ben Croshaw) himself in an issue of the American PC Gamer.
Oddly enough, Log up there often reminds me of Mr.Y, only slightly slower talking and bearded:

I read nintendo power and use the internet for everything else (usually this site). This system works for me.
Only the Escapist, although I've looked through my friend's Playstation Magazine, which was pretty good too.
Anyone find they like their gaming mags better with a little humor? As much as I like informative and honest reviews, I'll consistently buy a gaming mag that makes me cry with laughter aswell. PC Zone does that for me :3 And the Escapist of course.
I've been getting Nintendo Power for years, but I'm tired of paying for news I find out weeks before online through sites like this.
So this and NP. I'll occasionally buy EGM or something if an article looks interesting, but most of that news I still get here first and for free.

I read Games TM, I tend to only read magazines that don't have phone sex ads in the back. I just feel sleazy when I read a gaming magazine and turn to the last page only to see a latino women biting her nails whilst trying to charge me a stupid amount to talk to her for 5 minutes.

I used to get OXM but I eventually realised that it was a waste of time and money. Internet is where I can get the news and reviews I want.
