The Escapist staff is celebrating all things Mario, but there's just one problem. We can't figure out who our favorite character is. Can you?

It's gotta be Bowser, all the way. I'm not a massive Nintendo fan, but I do have a soft spot for MarioKart.

Either Mario himself, or Luigi.

Yoshi. He's just so cute.

Plus he eats his enemies and then uses them as ammo to defeat more enemies. Talk about efficiency!

I would vote Wario, but he hasn't had a good platform game since Mario Land 3: Wario World on the Gameboy. Instead I vote Luigi because whenever I played multiplayer Mario, I would have to be player 2 so I was always Luigi.

Edit: My second vote would be for Yoshi as I've played as Yoshi in every single Mario Kart since the SNES. Best balance of speed, acceleration and handling.

I like the "Paper Mario" type Bowser, you know, the one with attitude who teams up with mario for god-knows-what stupid reason.

Either that of he's the bad guy. He's pretty cool when he's a badass too I guess.

Methinks the poll's gonna be skewed in favour of Luigi due to Yahtzee's proclamation of him being superior.

Myself, it's gotta be Bowser. Why do you ask? Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. To quote his first lines, "Did somebody page the king of awesome?!"

My favorite Mario character is Boo.

Closely followed by Yoshi.

Bowser, every time. Why? Unmotivated kidnap of a princess just to aggravate a random plumber Because he's awesome in Mario Kart!

Yoshi is one of the most versatile Mario characters. He can hold fire in his mouth, or suck up enemies and turn them into eggs.

I've always loved Bowser, especially in Bowser's story for the DS. so freaking funny.

A close second would be luigi, who was also hysterical through all three iterations of the game.

The best character in the entire series is the Kuribo Goomba, from Super Mario 3
