Where is the "I've read maybe one or two because I'd much rather be reading something that isn't a book based on a video game"? I'd pick that one.

Not really a fan. I've read a few, and while they make decent light reading I tend to prefer looking for an actual book. Kind of on the level of good fanfiction, straight to store movies, and bad paperbacks (which most of them are anyways), but they're still (usually) better than movie games, most fanfiction, and your average 'romance' novel.

I love them. Can't see the harm in adding more story to a video game universe.

I don't usually read video-game related novels, but as I do read the Warhammer 40,000 novels, some of the EU Star Wars novels, and other such literary ties, I can understand the appeal, and approve. PLus, a Nathan Drake novel series would be pretty sweet.

I've read most of the books for Resident Evil, and I've read the first three for Halo. I really enjoy both series, and it makes me want to read more novels based off a video game. As long as they're well writen.

I'm another person who's read and highly enjoyed the Halo novels. Although I wish William Dietz had written more than just one of the novels...

I'm reading the Doom novels, and I'm not sure about the new sidekick chick who manages to get naked once or twice each book (at one point it's Pinky's fault), but it's still interesting, even though now it's not Demons, it's "Genetic experiments" designed by some things all named fred. I'm not kidding. They're called freds.
Either way, I enjoy reading about Cyberdemons and Pinkies in class and getting away with it.
When I read books in class about demons being killed with shotguns, who cares, but when I play the Doom flash version, I have to turn it off.
Teacher: "Are you killing people?"
Me: "No, Just zombies."
That got a laugh from me and my friends.
Ahhh, Doom. How boring would everything be without you?

No. I like books and I like video games, but for me they have to keep separate. Besides, video game novelizations generally suck. It's like film games, except it's game books. Rule Of Suck.

With how many books I still have to read on my shelf, no thanks. I've got enough backed up as is to dig into video game stories in book form. >_<

Sounds boring to me. The game generally conveys the story better then the more passive written word but the written word can of course do more. I really don't have an interest in reading game novels though since it smacks of fanfic to me and that's not really interesting to me.

Warhbammer 40,000, Dragon Age and Mass Effect are all really good reads, so yes, I love reading video game novels
I'm afraid that I must smack you now for calling the 40k books videogame novelizations instead of tabletop miniature wargame novelizations. Yes, Dan Abnett the Emperor demands that you must pay for this heresy.

Does the Doom comic count? 'Cause that should have been an ongoing series.
I haven't read a game novel since Worlds of Power: Mega Man 2. Not out of any kind of Cinema Snob "I'll take my stories in videogame format, thank you very much" attitude, but more because it's so hard to tell the well-written stories from the cash-in fanfic.

I don't read fiction books, only non-fiction. So as a result I prefer the stories to be in game format. It's a lot more engrossing being a character than simply reading about what they are doing.

One of the things that made me go off fiction books were the chapters that sort of set the scene before story took off proper. In a game that would take only a fraction of the time a book would (obviously, because it's being played out infront of you - instead of reading reams of words).

I'm not taking anything away from fictional books, but when you are cursed with a hyperactive mind it gets unbearably monotonous.

To be fair the ME books have piqued my interest but I have yet to decide on getting them.
