Arthur Schopenhauer and Friedrich Nietzsche, also Marquis de Sade if we treat his "Dialogue Between a Priest and a Dying Man" as philosophical work.

Descartes, just for giving my Higher Philosophy class a good laugh at how circular and futile his entire meditations are.

My personal favourite is Camus though he is a bit light on the philosophy, Myth of Sysiphus nails it.

I don't really know anything about philosophy, so I'll go with... Aristoltle. He at least did some things for science.

No John Stuart Mill or Jeremy Bentham? How disappointing. Utilitarianism should get more love than that.
Agreed. Utilitarianism definitely has more effect on my life than any other philosophy.

That said, I voted Nietzsche, because he's more fun to read than any other philosopher I've studied.

Jim Morrison, Poet, writer, singer, philosopher. He was the lead vocalist for The Doors, and one of the greatest philosophers of the last century.

I love utilitarianism! Or at least, making fun of its myriad of flaws.

Empedocles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empedocles

Threw himself down a volcano. Think about it. He had to climb the mountain, knowing that when he got up there he would be ending his life!

I admire that devotion.

Marcus Aurelius.

I read 'Meditations' a while ago, and I've found that his Stoic philosophy resonated strongly with me.

Boethius and his 'Consolation of Philosophy' is a close second though.
