Interesting idea, I guess alot of people will answer pretty much the same but it is nice to look at a demographic and the variation within that sometimes.
BoredDragon said:1) What age, gender, and nationality are you?
30, male, US
2) What other culture(s) or subculture(s) do you associate yourself with?
gamer mostly
3) What do you think defines someone as a brony?
simply enjoying the show on a regular basis (keeping up with the new eps at the very least)
4) How did you first hear about the show?
a friend
5) Why do you like the show?
its funny, cleaver and generally well written, the characters are fun and i even see a lot of me in one of em
6) Do you actively try to get people to like the show or ?convert them? to bronyism?
no, i don't believe ramming my fandom down some one elses throat is a good idea, as it generally to resentment.
7) What are some of the stereotypes about bronies that you hear? Are they based on truth or outright lies?
the furry one is BS, we aren't furrys, nothing against furs, but that's a totally different thing. that we wanna have sex with horses, both wrong and gross. that we're annoying, this one is kinda true, from over zealous fans trying to convert every one, to the ones that jump every hater they see. the 14 - 35 'no life basement dweller', sounds like 'your average MMO' player doesn't it? and how true is that stereo type? the gross minority
8) Do you like the brony community? Why/Why not?
so far as i've seen (i got into it about mid way in season 1) we tend to be pretty nice people, and the level of creativity and skill I've seen is kinda of boggling, in a good way
9) What is the most important aspect or trait of Brony culture?
liking the show is a big part, can't be a brony if ya don't like the show now can ya.
10) Rate how big your fandom for the show is on a scale from 1 to 5 with 5 being the largest.
i'd say a 3.5 - 4, i love the show, think its great, have an pony avatar on ... every thing damn near, and wall paper, and even want a Luna plush(no money for it though :/), BUT, i don't gush to every one i know about how great the show is, it REQUIRES an open mind going into, and not every will be able to get past the 'girly' look of the show.
