Hello escapist community!!! I have a quick question hoping to get answered.

So My dad's friend got me System Shock 2 as a belated birthday gift, and he sent me packs with it to help it work on my computer.

Problem is, he didn't know I have a windows 7. The packs claim to make the game work on a high powered computer, but sadly, it only get's past the opening cutscene and halfway through the tutorial before it freezes, than crashes.

I tried it on my dads old 2004 laptop and it works ok, only to freeze past the tutorial. I also installed it on my old 2000 computer, but still no luck.

If anyone can help me, that would be amazing. I really, really wanna play this game, and want to be scared shitless.

If any one can post maybe sites that can help me or such, thank you!!

EDIT; yes, I have tried downloading it from turrents and such, but that has no luck either.

System Shock 2 hates dual and quad cores, make sure to set it to only one affinity in task manager and it should help(I say should because that worked for me but not other people). Patching it to the latest version also seemed to help me, but I was doing this with the old version on Vista.

Ok I did that, set it to only one.

The title screen stopped glitching, but it couldn't get past after you click what level you want, than click ok. It got to that loading screen but than said 'System Shock 2 is not responding'...D:

run it in compatability mode. Turn off desktop themes and desktop composition, run as an admin, set affinity. if those don't work..then it'll be a special fix >.>

Like the guy below me said, run it in compatability mode too, might solve the problem.
