I have no idea about anything relating to your question, but how set are you on using Norton? I ask, because there are other, free security programs out there that are just as good, if not better, than norton.

My personal recommendation is Microsoft Security Essentials. Perhaps the only antivirus that you can guarantee won't delete important system files.

Probably best to contact Norton customer service, though I echo the sentiments of the previous poster. MSE is probably one of the best free alternatives out there, though I personally recommend ZoneAlarm...a lot cheaper than Norton and a lot less intrusive (and less likely to fuck up and ruin your operating system), but still just as (if not more) effective and easier to use.

Instead of renewing norton, we're now getting a new year of mcafee. Thing is, I don't know how renewing that with a code will work. Can anyone help?

You open up mcafee program on your computer, it wills say something along the lines of renew now, click on it. On the page your taken to it SHOULD say something along the lines of redeem code. Click on that, if not just look around the website maybe in the frequently asked question section.

Also as far as safety software goes if you go to a university I would just download the free anti virus you can get from your school.
