So I'm a bit late but that's okay, I just recently bought Final Crisis and I have a few questions. Please don't say anything if it's too big a spoiler

One: I know the anti-monitor was the main villain for the first crisis and that he shows up again (or at least his husk does) as an important plot device, does he show up at all in the Final Crisis?

Two: Who is the main villian of Final Crisis (or will that spoil too much?)

Three: What are all the tie in's to the Final Crisis?

Four: Does blackest night happen before or after Final Crisis?

Blackest Night comes along as a result of Final Crisis, but that's about all I know about it.
There was a lot to do with Superman Prime, or whatever.

Yeah I had a feeling blackest night is after final crisis because I've known for a while that the anti-monitor becomes the black lantern battery or something....also does anyone else hate how the book for Final Crisis is nothing but a finger-print magnet?

Blackest night is based of events that happened in Final Crisis. After you read final crisis you really should read blackest night(it's in graphic novel form now)

Final Crisis was really big and really convoluted. I've never been a big DC guy, so I didn't follow it myself. I did follow Blackest Night, however, because it was awesome.

Actually, aside from Green Lantern, I only really read Blue Beetle.

Final Crisis is a mess. To a casual comic book reader it's just a jumble of obscure minor characters and events that aren't properly explained. It comes before Blackest Night but there is a little overlap. Final Crisis issue 1 happens at the same time as the creation of the Red Lanterns, if I'm not mistaken.

Darkseid is it's main villain, but I don't know much about the tie ins.

In all honesty, the tie-ins are not exactly "must read" material or even needed to understand final crisis, but you might want to read the batman issues and superman beyond, in order to understand what batman and superman were up to.

Check wikipedia for a list of blackest night tie-ins.

Final Crisis was incredibly confusing. It was an absolute mess full of weird bullplop. It's basically what I hate about comics today: Convoluted stories about superheroes fighting to save 78 multiverses and such. It wasn't unreadable.....it was just...odd. I honestly purchased it to see
Batman die(although, you can tell on the cover that he's a skeletal husk). He didn't even actually....really....seriously die.
THAT was anticlimactic.

But the biggest flaw of them all: Booster Gold was absent from the story. He is the epitome of cool. If anyone on this thread hasn't read 52, I strongly suggest they do so.

After all of this bitchin' and moaning, I'll address the questions:

#1. I don't remember there ever being an anti-monitor.

#2. That middle-aged fat detective guy, turned super ultimate demon, bringer of apocalypse named Darkseid is the villain.

#3 There are jillions of tie-ins. I'm sure someone posted all of them already. Sorry I can't help.

#4. I never read Blackest Night. I usually read Vertigo comics.

Soooooo is it worth the buy? I mean it's too late I already bought it (and I will still read it with great excitement) I would just like your opinion on it

You didn't read it yet?! .....I hope I didn't spoil anything.

Overall...I thought it was okay. I had difficulty understanding the weird poo that happened in the comic. I guess I need to read more DC comics. It's certainly not terrible, but I still needed to look it up on Wikipedia to figure what the hell happened in the end. Don't let my opinion dim your enthusiasm about it, though. Trust me, I was floppin' excited to start reading it, also.

If you haven't already, try reading 52. It's similar to Final Crisis, but it's written extremely well and has about a fajillion characters that you'll actually care about.

A little off topic, but, I want to dress up as Booster Gold for Six Flags, alongside this hawt Wonder Woman chick I saw. I want little kids to say "Oh look, mommy, there's Batman and Superman...who the hell is that?" I'll reply "Ha, ha, ha, little grub baby, I am Booster Gold. Watch your damned mouth."
