I'm trying to finish my project for tomorrow, but I've forgotten the name of something I wanted to include in it.

I can kind of describe it though, so perhaps you could help.

What I'm looking for is the name of something from a Japanese festival. I think its a New Years festival. Anyways, they're these little slips of paper/parchment that people write their wishes/hopes onto, and then they han them on a special tree or ornament.

What are they called?

45 minutes, and not even a joke?
What do you call a post done by the OP which doesn't contribute a single bit to the discussion? A Bump!

What? Not funny enough? Maybe that's because a thread which goes 45 minutes without a reply is a sign that it was meant to die. That, or nobody sees any potential value for discussion..

Hurhur.

Generally the Escapist is pretty fast on the draw with answer - or at least bad jokes.

I know that Tanabata has little slips of paper with wishes on a tree. Dunno if it's what you want though. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanabata]

Have you tried looking for the answer? You know, Google, Wikipedia? You're on the internet, after all...

This might be a place to start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_festivals
