Im no expert but 4 core doesnt help in gaming & never will. The amount of excess code required to be written to use a second processor nevermind a third & fourth is prohibitive.

4 Cores really for performing multiple tasks like decoding a film watching TV playing a game & browsing the web at the same time :D From what I read the 3 core basically functions as a high end dual core with the abilities of a fourth core. Because obviously for gaming you actually want a single core superfast chip :D
Thx for the reply.

Wouldn't the i7 be superior in that case? Being able to boost the other cores 'n' stuff? I'm still considering i7...

Kay. It will probably get more expensive for me, since I'm located in the Faroe Islands.

After browsing a bit on main components, how would these look?

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition, roughly 250 USD

Sapphire Radeon HD5770, roughly 233 USD

RAM I don't know really. Advice on which manufactures and how much RAM is ideal for the AMD Phenom would be appreciated.

And of course a motherboard that works best with this setting.

That isn't really true.. there is about 2% of all games that support quad and it's increasing all the time.
