Quick Question About Continuing Romances in Mass Effect 2

Please, no major spoilers.

Are you actually able to continue your romance from the first game, or is that all apparently meaningless? (Yes, I know you can't have Ash/Kaidan and/or Liara in your party, but what I'm wondering is if you can continue your romance w/ them.)

I've read that if you cheat on them in ME2, the will dislike you more in ME1.

Don't quote me on that, though. Just random speculation I heard somewhere. Not sure if the romance continues.

No. The intro has you interacting with your former mate somewhat, and you get a picture of them in your cabin. That's most of it.

That's kind of sad. And here I was, expecting to show Kai-Kai the new sheets. <=D

The romance interests from ME1 (Kaidan/Liara/Ash) can't be squadmates in ME2 ... nor can you romance them. BioWare developers said that because ME2 has the posibility of becoming a complete flustercluck suicide mission - and every squad mate has the possibility of becoming dead - the love interests were kept out of it so they can be around for ME3. As for cheating...I don't know. If my Shep gets nasty with Garrus and he dies in endgame...how would Kaidan ever know?? *whistles*

From what I've read what happened in your play through of ME1 will have fuck all effect on what will happen for your play through for ME2, despite all the talk on the contrary. However, they do plan to implement the repercussions for ME2-ME3.

The new alien romance partners are weird though. Garrus and Tali? A guy with visible jaw bones and a lass who knows more about your ship than your crew, yet you have never seen her face? That's just creepy.
