Quick question about the Vita

Will the playstation Vita have the same computer-like functions as the PSP? Will you be able to surf the internet (albeit very slowly) , watch movies, play music. etc.? Or have they dumped a lot of those features, in an attempt to cut down on piracy?

Yes to everything except the last question.

Music, movies, web browsing all there to my knowledge.

From what I heard, you have to use a provided program to transfer music and movies now though, no more direct access to the file system.
