One philosofy I hear a lot and like a lot is the ''If you want something done, do it yourself'' philosofy. I am wondering where it comes from. The earliest source I know is from 1995, but I imagine it's way older than that.

Does anyone know the origins of this?

The word you're looking for is philosophy. Furthermore, yes it certainly is older and while I don't know the exact origin I would guess somewhere around the early 1900's. In any case, Google is your friend.

I think the full phrase is "If you want something done right, do it yourself." Wikipedia says it is a French proverb. It doesn't give a date of origin, though.

* On n'est jamais si bien servi que par soi-même.
o Idiomatic translation: If you want something done right, do it yourself.
o Literal meaning: One is never so well served as by oneself.
