Quick TF2 Question

Ok so I have been playing TF2 since June of this year (I bought the game the sunday before it went free to play as my luck would have it) and have put about 60 hours into the game and during this time I have only found one hat. So I would like to know if hats are always this rare or how often you usualy get one as a random find. Thanks

Hats are pretty infrequent drops, yeah.

I've put hundreds of hours into it over a few years and at the most found maybe 3-5 hats. I don't play TF2 any more now though.

So I guess it pretty much is that rare.

Holy fuck. You're lucky as hell. Most people go 300-600 hours before their first hat. One guy had 1,200 hours before his first drop!

I played TF2 for 699 hours, and got exactly five hats via random drop. Well six, if the Teddy Roosebelt I got via random drop on Friday 13th counts as a hat.

I find it funny how Hats are regarded with such value.

For example, I had the shaman mask (for pre ordering From Dust on steam), and some randomer saw it and Traded me the concheror, the buff banner, and the black box for it, I was amazed how highly the hats are regarded by some members of the TF2 community. :/

Well actualy i got it after about 20 hours and I thought people got a ton more I didn't know that they were that rare because it seems that everyone in that game has a crap ton of hats

2006 hours, I've found about 10 hats.

Didn't find my first hat until at 400 hours.

My brother found one at 100 hours.

Rare too drop a hat. No set hour for a hat.

According to steam I've played 768 hours of TF2 and in that time I've got about 3-5 non-event hats from random drops. I consider myself very lucky on that account, so that should tell you something.

I've played about 950 hours of TF2, and I've gotten about 3-5 hat drops in that time. They are rare as hell. It's much better to scrap your spare weapons and trade the metal for the hats if you want to get more.

I agree that hats are stupidly valuable. People will pay hundreds of real dollars for an Unusual hat and I find myself laughing at them whilst simultaneously wondering what life would be like if I had that much disposable income.

But dayum, you got ripped off. The shaman mask settled to about 4 refined metal after From Dust relesed (I don't have an up-to-date price) and 4 Refined = 108 weapons.

Considering how long I've played, I get a hat maybe every 150 hours of gameplay. I don't think I've found a hat in the last 400 hours of gameplay.

They're really rare drops, I've crafted and traded way more hats than I've found.

I took me at least 150 hours before I got my first hat. Most of them are created through crafting and various other things. They really aren't dropped very often, so you might have better luck with crafting or trading.

Hats are INSANELY rare. If you can't wait for hats,you can break down your extra weapons and such and try to craft one. Or buy one at the Mann Co. Store,if you feel like pissing money away.
