I really don't see the problem though. If Fallout 3 brought out this kind of praise for the originals...is it really that bad? If they haven't played it, then ignore them, but if they have, there praise is just as valid as someone who played it back when it first came out. Am I right?

Maybe I just don't care what other people say, but I personally haven't really noticed anyone complimenting the first two games that obviously haven't played them. But there are always going to be posers out there, especially on the interweb, so meh.

As for me, they were great, but by no means my favorite back then. I would say they are better than the third, but at the same time I would say I've enjoyed FO3 a lot more than the first two, mainly because of a HUGE lack of competition.

Never played FO: Tactics. No desire then or now.

Anywho, if we want to get into a series that's been HUGELY over-poser-fied, check out Final Fantasy. Every single fan as of late seems to think just because they played number 7 or something, they own the entire series. Again, who cares? Just feel a little sad for them because eveyone who's played them from the beginning knows IV will always be the best.

It's just like the bunch of obsessively emo poser kids huddled up in a corner at school, it catches your eye..
I don't see the problem. I guess its because you're still in that high school phase where stupid shit like that irks you.

Well to be honest I didn't knwo about Fallout before the third was released. That being said, I'm not a fan of the series because I've only played the third game. The only reason I played that is because it's a Bethesda RPG, I've never seen a bad Bethesda RPG.

I was 9 upon the release of Fallout and wasn't really a fan or maybe even in the knowledge PC's could run games, however I was very happy with my Mega-Drive 2.

I had herd of Fallout before the release of 3, but, they never really tickled my fancy so to speak.

I played Fallout when it was out in 97. I was 7 or 8 at the time, and into FPS and flight sim games, but I thought Fallout looked cool in the store. It was hard, but I worked at it and played loads, though I never finished it. Same happened with Fallout 2. Eventually, I traded them in for newer things.

Then last year Fallout 3 came out, and I figured that I enjoyed the first one as a kid so why not pick it up? I also took the opportunity to repurchase the first two games with Tactics in the white label collection. So while I may not quite be at that level of 'old school fan', I feel that I have enough experience of both games at the time, to be able to talk to them.

I never played the first Fallout games. I tried Fallout 3 cause I heard so many good things about it. Didn't like it. But I'll thank it for one thing. It led me to the discovery that I don't like Western RPG's.

Metal gear solid for an example , the game has many good traits back then ermmm 1997? so its not exactly 3 years like how the poster has explained but comparing MGS1 to MGS4 , it has come a long way with the features in the game now and the power of 1080p Quality. I must ask did anyone hear of blueray back in the late 90's?

Many people may put me on the firing line for this but many games should be remade like final fantasy 7 for arguements sake. I personally think that games back then has put shame to newer games in many different cases.

It's kinda weird to me how games that were kinda unknown before now get applauded as redefining the genre while the people didn't know about it until Fallout 3 was released...
Same thing happened with The Ramones. They played to relatively empty stages throughout almost their entire career before someone important finally noticed them. Suddenly everybody claimed that they've always known about them and that they 'redefined' music. I can't remember where, but in a big poll The Ramones were voted the 2nd most influential band off all time. Now, I'm not dissing The Ramones, but it's very similar to what's happening with Fallout.

i really cant stand people who go on about a game franchise when a new game of it comes out, and this happens to each and every one of them. its just like the cod4 thing happening and halo 3. im glad there are games which retards and wannabees dont play these games consist on the pc. sorry that sounded a bit fanboyish. erm yeh oh shit.
