I am both disgusted and amused.....gah.
Ditto, but I just have to crumble to the sheer work that went into making this so funny! XD. First off I cringed but laughed my head off when "time has been added *resupplying sound effect* (picking up dead peoples ammo)" and another one I fell about laughing was the German (medic) voice saying he's burning. Very well made, some people might find distasteful but there's nothing better than upsetting some people who are too starchy to accept comedy (whether it just be funny or be black comedy)
EDIT: in school I sometimes rewrite questions when I'm bored to fit games so instead of "the mean level of hemoglobin in women at..." I would say "the average level of hobgoblins in...". I haven't inserted sound effecs but I have to say a 'level up' sound effect wouldn't be too bad after a class finishes... and maybe victory theme songs like in "worms" when school finishes.

Get off your high horse, and unless your willing to say you've never played a game based on war, then you can't say nothin'.
Well... yeah of course I've played war games. Battlefield 1942 is probably my favorite out of them. Am I not allowed to call a video distasteful because of the comical way it depicts what suffering real people had to go through? Yes I understand it's a movie but the Normandby landings are an extremely sad reminder of the harsh realities of a war which will be always remembered as the worst in history.

As I've tried to point out, I believe the core part of this thread (applying video game sounds to real world situations) could be quite an amusing and enjoyable thread to have. Unfortuanetly, people seem unable to move beyond what is merely a simple criticism simply because it is not part of the norm.

Can we at least agree that people are going to have differing opions on things, and respect them for their opinions? After all, I can see why people would find this video amusing, applying what is normally background noise in TF to that film is quite clever in its own way, but personally I found it to be in bad taste. That is all I have been trying to say. Obviously other people found it humourous. That is fine, each to their own. I just couldn't.

I hope we can all move past this particular sticking point before it blows out into something none of us want have, and try to concentrate on beyond all evils original question, what boring jobs could be livened up by game sounds/music. Prehaps then this post could be enjoyable for all.

Well, I sure hope you didn't play CoD:WaW then.
I haven't played that yet, uni will be going back soon so I'll be buried under study reasonably soon so I probably wont get a chance to play it for a while. Please refer to my previous post :)

Hahah, no stress boyo, I was really just referring to the whole "nazi zombies" thing. I might have injected a little bit of snark for good measure, but hey, it's the internet.

And in an effort to push this thread back on track, working in a call center, I don't think that anything but a universal mute button could make my job better/more interesting. Funny sound effects would just complicate things.

Ah yes, I saw a thread somewhere on here about the whole zombie Nazi thing. I had no idea what it was on about so I ignored it. Kind of makes me remember Wolfenstein hearing about that.

I think a mute button would be fantastic for a call centre. I work in a bottleshop, so occasionally a mute button wouldn't go down to badly in my job as well. Customers! (rolls eyes)

Someone really should scrounge up multiple game's sound file (iconic ones, of course) and remix an entire feature length movie with them.

Hrrrmmm...Escape from New York with the Doom SFX?
When Harry Met Sally with the Sims SFX?

The possibilities are endless!

As far as jobs go, what about the window washers on sky scrappers? Something like the asteroids song whenever the wind gets gusty?

Yeah, I'm sorry but that was just too disturbing and disrepectful for me to support. In a game those sounds are fine but when applied to real life it's unsettling and making light of an incredibly bloody battle. Not all things need to turn into a joke.

In terms of the actual question I'd be interested to see what sounds would work for a hairdresser. Perhaps some really sloshy, gross sounds for when they apply product and a final fantasy victory music when they perform a decent hair cut.

Now that could liven up the Houses of Parliament/President's Speeches if as he got up, they'd start playing the FF battle music and at the end they did the victory sound.

Or just after Obama's inauguration, you heard a "DING!"

I could watch maybe 30 seconds of this before having to quit. Why patronise what is not only one of the most moving, saddening and downright disturbing moments not only in movie history but real world history by applying these shoddy sound effects over it? Those men made a sacrifice, this cheapens that considerably and is a real shame.
Having to sit at the make-up department on the set for several hours to make a convincing looking blown off leg is kind of a sacrifice I guess. Having a nice salary...not so much, but getting all the sand in your crack and well everyone during filming is kind of annoying. In other words: it's a movie, this little video is based on a fictional movie, wich yes is based on actual events but that's not the . Relax a little, it's just a movie made fun off, or as my all time hero says: why so serious :p

Anyway, I lolled, the ammo grabbing was rofl. Other uses for video game sounds...hmmm, well I found another little video who also did something similair, put game sounds (in this case Mario) over a movie:

I liked that mario video, it was clever and they made good use of the sounds in applying them to that particular scene. As I've said all along I think the core concept is great, I just didn't like the way original film was portrayed, thats all.

No joker as an avatar? He's your hero! :)

I work as a a cashier at taco Hell. The number of times I have wanted to add on common game sounds to my outdoor box with a remote so I could use them when people are retarded is ridiculous.
Including the Jeopardy theme song for when people take longer than ten seconds than to decide what you're going to order. You're going to choose the same thing you chose last time! COME ON!

Is it wrong if I actually enjoyed this video?

On Topic: I reakon the Star Wars iMuse system would have worked really well for the Bush era. Whenever Bush appears, it playes the New Enemy sound file, when ever he said something wrong, it playes the Mission Critical sound, and when he walks off, the Allies Arrive sound. (You have to have played the origional X-Wing game on PC to get the references)

Of course not. We all have different opions on things. Personally I didn't like it but that doesn't mean that not everyone should.
