I played for a while, but really only because a few of my friends were. I think my highest level character is a Lv.62 Mage. But then this update was released and it screwed up the in game graphics and I couldn't be bothered to find a fix for it.

The best way to insure that you'll never return is to delete all of your toons. That will usually keep all but the most dedicated from coming back to the game.

Grow balls.
Realise it's a game.
Stop playing.

It's really that simple, people make too much a big deal about WoW.
its not that simple, all it takes is someone you know to start talking about the game, you gain a little interest and BAM you playing again. its kinda like asking a Valve fanboy to never to play a Valve game again.

the best cure is to play something else honestly. even if its another MMO

Have a friend change the pass, have him/her keep the pass, do not let you have the pass until at least a month or so later. If you still try going back after that, then shock therapy is probably your best bet.

Can i haz ur stuff?

I quit years ago, the best thing to do is cancel, and uninstall.

The process of reinstalling and doing 5 hours worth of updates is enough to stop you from playing again.

I agree with blackcombs idea. I was never a WoW person but I had my shares of mmorpg's I had to figure out how to quit. Nothing's quite as effective as creating a horrible complicated password.

I quit the game twice and have been "sober" for several months now. If I touch WoW it's mainly just the awesome Private servers xD.

One of the things you should ask yourself is "What am I getting out of playing WoW?" Some people do it for the social aspect, some for the PvP, some for the story, some like to accomplish what few others have in the game. (Not everyone has beat Heroic 25-man Ulduar)

When you find out what it is you really like about playing WoW, you might be able to find another outlet to satisfy that urge.

I got bored after I got to level 63, so I never went through the whole quitting thing, I just left. My bro on the other hand took about 3 weeks to quit.
How to quit, and this really is the best strategy, is to give your account to someone else. That way its someone else's problem.

I just take extended breaks from WoW. Usually for 6 months or so... then I can come back and enjoy new content.

There is no need to be melodramatic about it and delete all your characters. Just stop for awhile and come back when you feel like it.

I played on and off since launch, quit a couple of months after the release of Sunwell in BC. I realized how much I hated WoW pvp and how the devs really didn't care about balance. Just quit cold turkey during a round of dailys. Realized I was starting to think of it like work, where I lost out if I didn't blow 3 hours a day running dailys with my 70s.

I'll summerise it into to a few easy steps for you:

1.Change password to something you won't remember.
2.Cut off all connections to WoW completely.
3.Log off
4.Don't get upset
5.Find a new hobby

And done, easy as pie.

intresting, intresting

never herd of the insanely complicated password theory before, not sure it would work on me though.......

can anyone suggest a non-addictive game that might fill the void (god im sooo sad lol)one thats not like wow where you have a minimum amout of playtime to do a week and guild obligations etc...

ive never really played many other games so some input here would be nice. whats a good timewaster game that dosent feel like a second job you have to pay for?

Do what I did. Start playing Diablo II until you realize that everyone on battle.net is an a-hole, moron, or cheater and that high runes don't drop. By then you'll be so frustrated that you'll say "screw mmo's," buy a 360, play it until you have to send it off to be repaired twice. By then you'll have plenty of time to realize that games aren't very important at all and you'll be free of WoW forever!!!
