Do you like to be quoted? Are you the kind of person who goes with the devils advocate or otherwise sketchy view points just to be noticed? Do you often find the next day after a tirade of forum posting, an ungodly amount of new messages, all of which being people who quoted you? What are your opinions about quoting others and being quoted yourself.

Myself? I find it unnerving to see a bunch of new messages waiting for me in the morning. I fear that people see my posts and instantly get hostile against them and shoot back at me. I also am afraid of being misquoted, or others getting the wrong idea of my original message.

I love it. Keeps bringing me back.

My favourites are 'This' or 'Quote for truth' but I love a good argument and the quote messages help keep them lively.

I rather enjoy being quoted. To me, that shows that people actually gave a mummer's fart about what I had to say.

Alas, most of the time my words seem to go unnoticed. Such a shame.

If people are arguing against me, I enjoy it as long as its intelligent, because then I know that person can be reasoned with and I can have a decent conversation, and can often learn something myself from that person (I love hearing intelligent opposite opinions). However if its just stupidity or people misunderstanding me, I get massively pissed off, and will respond accordingly. I also enjoy getting agreed with. Its nice to know you're not the only one who thinks something, or have even positively affected someone's opinions. i try to (but still do) avoid playing devil's advocate online, because people don't know you are and can react adversely.

I consider myself fairly eloquent and like to think that I can put into words a valid opinion that others can get behind. I try not to post anything boring, and I like to think my contribution to a thread is of a high enough quality that people consider it part of the discussion. I never post anything I'm not prepared to back up and argue the point over.

So yes, I do like being quoted. In fact I'd say that I aim to be quoted, not for the attention, but because if my comment is not something others read and find interesting then it may as well be spam, and I like to keep my contributions to a high standard.

I'll quote others as I see fit, I'd rather quote someone and agree than reiterate something that's been said before.

I love being quoted it means someone found something I said interesting enough to adress it.
TL:DR

I like being quoted, don't really know why.
QUOTE PYRAMID FOR GREAT JUSTICE.

Sorry, it just occurred to me that I am, in fact, a moron.

Being quoted, whether in agreement or to discuss / argue implies someone is paying attention. It proves you are contributing to the forum and being noticed so generally I'd expect it to make people happier.

Being quoted is awesome :p It keeps me on the escapist, because it brings me back into interesting threads.

It's good, as it means someone actually read the post.

I don't make many posts, and I am rarely quoted. Even when I feel myself that I bring something new to the thread, which sometimes suck. But I don't really care that much. Rather not be quoted than be quoted by someone who disagree so violently he blows a fuse. Though that is always fun to read.

When writing this about quotes, I suddenly remembered another kind of quote. This forum has fast turned into the go-to place for funny quotes. I love reading these forums, 'cause most of you are more or less crazy. And there is one recent quote I just cannot get out of my head, and I have started using variations of it when talking with my girlfriend, even though I speak Norwegian 99% of the day. But I was stupid enough to forget who wrote it! So sorry dude-who-wrote-it, this is for you:

Your screen name demands an instant friend add. Although, 'tis a bit shameful to use such an awesome name and not have the matching avatar to go with it.

Ah, but the Faceless Man can take any guise, no?
Valar Morghulis!

(Had I found an avatar I really liked which fit the name, I would probably use it. But I really love the one I have :p )

I'm new here so it's always nice to get quoted, makes me feel like people are actually paying attention.

It's a nice feeling of accomplishment in an otherwise dull, dreary and pointless existence, day after day, just trudging on through life in a... oh, sorry, drifted off a bit there.

Quotes = good.

Ok, I think I'll stay off of quotes for a while.
