That said, my problem isn't so much that my favorite pokemon to use is BAD, as it is the opposite, my favorite pokemon is TOO good, and no one would play against me if I used him. I think you all know where this is going:

She's an awesome Special Wall, but not much more.

As for favourite Pokemon that suck:

I like the way it evolves, the fact it is immune to anything that isn't super effective and that basically no-one uses it.
He's not used cause he's not that great. Almost every Pokemon has a move that can hit it

Whenever I tell people my favorite Pokemon is Scyther, they tend to laugh at me. I know, I know, Scyther has a LOT of weaknesses and isn't as strong as Scizor, but hey, when I was a kid, he was my favorite, and that still hasn't changed.

I always like Vaporeon over all of them along with Glaceon. But they do need to buff up Flareon so I agree with the OP 100%

My Flareon is pretty badass, actually.

It's only lvl 43 at the moment, but it has Fire Spin, Smog, Quick Attack, and Bite. I'll be swapping out Smog for Fire Blast shortly. Kicks ass. Yet to run into a non-water type fight that it couldn't handle.

How the fuck are you kicking ass?

Smog has a base power of 20...Fire Spin of 15...

Quick Attack has 40. And Bite has 60.

Anything wins in story mode, I suppose. ANYTHING.

The only rule in story mode is higher level and/or type advantage = WIN.

Actually, the only rule of story mode is "If you have enough revives you can never ever lose. Period.".

Seeing as how you can't actually buy revives until you beat Victory Road, I still like my point better. Because as you all know, Pokemon is about hoarding lots and lots of crap.

Uh, I'm pretty sure you can start buying revives after the 4th or 5th gym, depending on the game. Anyone want to confirm/deny this?

Yeah, I think I saw that. I believe he tanked with a focus band, and used flail after baton-passing a ton of attack and speed.

Come to think of it, I saw something similar with a caterpie...

Is it just me or does anyone else think that there is waaaaaay too much math in a game supposedly made for children.

Dude, I still play it like I did 12 years ago:
-Use the obvious type advantages
-Level every Pokemon you think you'll ever need (means I take forever because I have 5 lvl 54s, but I love that lil' 36 so much I wanna level him)
-Be genuinely surprised when it learns a new attack or evolves
-The cool looking ones are best

While it has evolved (har har) into a seriously multi-layered strategy game, I still like just playing through the story and catching what I like. I recently passed on Pursuit and Baton Pass for my Buizel because NPCs never switch pokemon, and I don't use stats very much.

Apparently it's a glitch from what the guy says in the description of video. It is also banned because it opens up possibilities for other pokemon that can use this, sadly enough. Flareon does get Nitro Charge in Gen 5 though, Physical fire move and all.

It's weaker than Fire Fang! Nitro Charge sucks, too.

And to really break the game...Sheer Cold Machamp. 100% hit rate thanks to No Guard on an instant kill move with no immunites. (Ghosts can't be killed by Horn Drill/Guilitine, Flying immune to Fissure).

Ya my bad, I just looked at Flareon's movepool for Generation 5 and didn't read the power for the move.

Probably not going to happen. Why? Flareon is a gen-1, and they really don't care much about gen-1 except for Pikachu.

I'd love to see Game Freak decide to go deeper, and not broader. Why not strip down to the first gen, or first two, and make a deeper, more satisfying game, rather than just rehashing the same old stuff with new sprites? Because it's not as easy

Along with a Weedle sweep. Gen 5 also introduces the Level 1 Aron sweep.

Magikarp. ROFL. I haven't played it since Gold/Silver so my knowledge is a little outsourced. But I always loved using Beedrill. Only trouble was, he was a lvl 10 tier 3 evolution, and actually sucked. Hypno and Victreebell also fell prey to this, as did Vileplume. Why must the weirdly cool ones be shit? D;

Dear Game Freak,

Can you stop making Flareon suck? Can you at least give it Earthquake or Flare Blitz? Or some kinda decent physical attack moves? Flareon has a massive attack stat, and absolute nothing to do with it. Flareon is actually better off using a special attack based moveset, and that's a damn shame. Super Power ain't enough. No STAB. Stat drop after use, and poor type coverage.

All the other Eeveelutions are totally viable in one way or another.

Espeon is Psychic death. Umbreon can tank and stall. Vaporeon can tank, sweep, stall, heal, and do it all. Jolteon is fast as fuck, and an exceptional Baton Passer. Leafeon has a great attack and defense stats, and a varied movepool to go with it. Glaceon is a pretty damn good Ice type, with good special attack.

It's Generation 5.

You have actually had 6 chances to fix Flareon merely by adding a few moves...Gen 2. Gen 3. Fire Red/Leaf Green. Gen 4. Heart Gold/Soul Silver. And now...Gen 5. And you still make Flareon suck.

R.I.P. Flareon

STAB = Same Type Attack Bonus, meaning that if a pokemon is the same type as the move it used, it does 1.5x damage. 1.25x for dual type pokemon.

Honestly, I was really just giving up on Pokemon. I got Pearl a while back, and while that was fun, I didn't see much in it.

After seeing numerous posts on here about Pokemon and how its competitive, I really want to give it a shot now.

Wow! First time I've seen the battle screen for B&W. I may have to break down and get it. Passed on HG/SS because Diamond/Pearl disappointed me, but this looks SWEET.

Yeah, he is useless... I always get the Jolteon in the old games and Espeon in the newer ones.

I like flaeron's design, but yeah, his movepool and/or his stats suck (i.e. they don't work together at all.)

There are great alternatives, though, like Arcanine, Ninetales, and Rapidash. And the fire starters.

I always had a soft spot for Venusaur, if only for nostalgia. It's not Meganium bad

Meganium can tank like a *****. Sunny Day + Solarbeam + Synthesis, say goodbye to your ass. Or throw on Reflect and Light Screen to tank anything, and leave Synthesis and Magical Leaf. Shame that it's got five weaknesses, but there aren't very many good bug or poison types anyway.
