I am curious how much racial hatred there is in the world. So I ask you fellow international escapians what racial dislikes do you know of. For example I know of Croatia and Serbia, China and Japan, Armenia and Turkey, Chechnya and Russia, the two major tribes in Zaire (right nation?... the one with the tootsies or whatever), Ireland (is it north, south or the entirety of Ireland? I'm sure Furburt could tell me...) and England and the obvious Israel and Palestine. Also due to the Belgium thing recently I heard of the two racial groups there that are none too friendly.

So I would like to know what other racial/national dislikes you know of and if possible the cause of them. And please I would prefer if you want to state the issue say it from a viewpoint like "there is a dispute over land on the border" rather than "country X is trying to steal country Y's land" which could encourage flaming from a person supporting the other side in such a possibly emotionally involved subject.

The hatred between Ireland and England is typically between a lot of Southern Ireland and the Republican parts of Northern Ireland. The Unionist parts of Northern Ireland want to stay with Britain. There's Unionists in the south too, but they're quite rare. It's a combination of religion and nationalism.
Well there you go

Rwanda is the African nation and it is the Hutu and Tutsi tribes

I just remembered another, the Boers and any non-white Africans

That would be Rwanda.

O.t: Isn't the conflict in Darfor(sp?) about racial hatred?

You might as well add 'Australia & New Zealand'. Though it's a pretty weak hatred, if indeed it's anything more than a joke.
Ah, you know that both the Aussies and the NZs are too lazy to hold a grudge.

You DID forget the US Government vs Everyone Else though. Or that's how it seems to me.

I never did understand racial prejudice...

EDIT:

Not racial, religious prejudice for me. I hate most religions, but muslims take the cake. No regard for others, social environment is stuck in the what, 15th century? The most egoistic and extreme religion, too.

We'd be better off without em.
I what you edited there. Very sharp on the uptake. I can't stand the religious wars either - if they can't listen to and obey their own tenets of their faith, they should have them taken away from them like toys from a naughty child.

I think any two different groups with territorial boundaries have a certain degree of hate towards each other. Its nature, its instinct. One group always have the urge to expand territory and show off its superiority versus others. You would think after 6000 years of civilization we had got over with it, but we didn't.

I can't remember which author it was, maybe Raymond E Feist, said in a novel "a border is basically a line where two groups got tired of killing each other and decided to have a rest"

In my opinion these borders barely exist anymore. My country is considered multi-cultural, yet there is tension and sometimes even hate wherever you go. It's hard to draw lines between these cultures, considering that they sometimes occupy the same apartment-block.

im english, so the french can all go f*ck themselves. but thats almost jokingly, so there is no real intent behind it. the only racial slurs i have ever heard have been between two black blokes, jokingly again.

the only real time i have ever felt there was real dislike was when a good friend of mine (royal marine commando freshly back from afghanistan) was introduced to a muslim bloke with the typical terrorist beard by a girlfriend who was fucking stupid.

he just got up, paid for his food and left, dumping the girl the next day. but then i can kind of accept that, and its not like he threw something at the bloke, screamed in his face then left.

We Americans have a running joke battle with Canada.
That's the only one close to home that comes to mind.
...
We also hate everyone different than us in general. Seriously.
Blacks hate whites, Mexicans hate Blacks, and everything in between vice versa'd.
It's unfortunate that a lot of us are closet racists. But...what can you do?

i think theres a lot of racial hatred in most places. bear in mind:

+the nf and BNP scumbags that i despise are getting increased popularity now.
+in the city i come from, there have been several violent riots started solely because of racial issues
+and racist organisations are not being stopped.

my personal view is that we all have a hole in our arse, regardless of our racial and cultural background, and we can't just avoid a group forever because we don't like them. in the words of the late Bill Hicks, " we all need to put our differences aside and pump all our wasted taxes to help feed and clothe the homeless ( which, by the way, could be done many times over not missing a single person) and then we could join forces and defeat the aliens".

The leader of Zimbabwee(wait, it'll come to me... Robert Mugabe!) seems to dislike whites. I think there's a lot of racial turmoil over there, although Mugabe seems to have done a fine job of uniting everyone against the government.

Years ago I read a Korean Manga called "Island" which was based (loosely) on historical events and Japanese experimentation on Koreans. It included sections in the back talking about the reality which the story was referring to, and showed a few pictures if I recall.

I'd imagine that kind of thing might have something to do with it.

Well, in Argentina, specially in Buenos Aires city, there are some racial tensions with illegal Bolivian inmigrants, and we as argentinians cannot safely walk in a city in Bolivia.

Hahaha!
Funny 'cos it's true :p

Having said that, I live in Wales at the moment, and I've got plenty of Welsh friends. There's just a bit of banter between us English students and the Welsh students, no real hatred. Unless it's about the Rugby that is :p

Where I come from there was a lot of dislike directed towards immigrant Polish workers, but it was mainly ignorant old people and stupids doing the hating. Everyone else realised they were just here to work as hard as they could, and earn money.

Didn't japan tried to invade Korea around 1600 give or take 50 years?

Every ones a little bit racist. NSFW
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbud8rLejLM&feature=related

I assume most racist incidents occur due to cultural upbringing. I grew up in the northern USA, skin color and national background was never an issue up there. Moved to southern USA a few years back. Some people of darker complexion (not a majority from what I have noticed) have been raised to hate people of lighter complexion due to historical events, and same for how some lighter complexion people have been raised. There are several places I dont go to around town because of how I will be treated for having lighter skin. My mom wandered into a "black" owned salon, they kind of ganged up on her and made her uncomfortable, mainly because shes "white" and has straight hair.

Island is a great manga, the article in the back you mentioned is titled "The Bones from Shinjuku" its pretty messed up stuff.
