Well now, did I say 'it wasn't us'? No, I did not. I never said it wasn't 'our' fault either.

My point was, white people enslaved other white people well before they cared about a darker skinned person.
Those other white people were either poor/uneducated, other tribes or cities that were taken over or absorbed, women, or sold as slaves because that is the life they were born into within their culture. Even if they had the same skin color, it didn't matter. All those things are under the term 'racist' or 'racism'.
Also, african tribes sold prisoners of war to white men for goods, and sold prisoners of war to other african tribes as bribery or deals and even people within their own tribe. So, it wasn't just the white man at fault for being able to get slaves in the first place.
The only people to blame, is the entirety of humanity since it has been going on since humanity first began. A different color made it easier to justify 'owning' them, since they were even more 'different'. White people had the same treatment in slavery as blacks did, only for a different reason, which is still defined as being 'racist'.

If you're a person with any kind of power, racist stuff is just as socially unacceptable as it is for a white person. Look at how much everyone scrutinized every comment made by Obama or Sotomayor for signs of racial bias, for example.

Americans just casually ignore racism when it comes from non-whites they perceive as powerless because, well, they think it doesn't matter because, y'know, they're powerless. Society is all about ignoring the powerless. (Now, individually powerless whites still get a wary eye because they have the numbers to be a dangerous mass movement.)

The word Muslim comes from I think Arabic meaning to submit or "Taslim". And the way I see it, to be submissive makes you on a lower ranking than if you were arrogant(Like me).

Just got on the bus today, wearing my Dr. Ocatagon shirt, couple of black dudes come up to me and start hassling me: "What the fuck you know bout Kool Keith? hahahaha!" So I proceeded to list off the discography and tell them about when I saw him at Rock The Bells, and whatever. All I got was "Yea I bet you went to his fucking show, fucking white kid.", at which point they went and sat back down. What did I do? Wear the wrong shirt? The fuck, it ain't right, I didn't even know these jackasses. They were as much racist scum as whites can be.

Just thought I'd share my experience, and I hope to God I can pick up my car from the shop Monday.

The true problem is that some black people are born with nothing, raised in bad communities, and are told/learn their history. It seems to me that some black americans have absolutely no pride, no self distinction, and self respect for themselves in some regard. They gave this country brilliant music, did many great things, and in the end once they earned their freedom it all turned into a gang war over drugs. It really is a tragic story.

Not only that, but their entire culture seems to try to go against the notion that this country accepts them.

By misunderstandings do you mean to say, a social issue that does not exist? Perhaps the very fact that so many people believe in it is reason enough to discuss it, even in a hypothetical situation.

Discussing it compounds the misunderstanding thanks to the power of echo chambers.
It's like "political correctness is out of control!" threads.
See, political correctness isn't a real social movement. It's a manufactured strawman. At best, you could say it's taken on a life of its own. But even that life is horribly overstated.
So, when people talk about political correctness like it's actually a movement with rules and leaders and a concrete agenda, they compound their misunderstanding of political correctness.
They post examples of political correctness -- a mixture of self-servingly political satire from the 90s taken out of context, rumors some talk radio guy made up, and stories of real school administrators and minor public officials doing stupid stuff because they misunderstand what political correctness is, too.
Everyone walks away having gotten a bit off their chest. But they also walk away with a reinforced belief that political correctness is a real social movement. And so it goes.

Which is why I think it's important to challenge the assumption rather than just accept it.
