Picked Rage up today, I'm sorry to hear about the PC guys having problems, but I'm having a good time.
Frst of, the style. This game looks and feels like a better realised borderlands (not saying i dont love hearing my bloodwing set bandits on fire). Tcahe colour pallet is realy effective, the characters are emotive and so far generally likable, you'll get sick of vendors quick but thats cos no matter howmany random options a character has you'll always go to the shop a hundred times so can't be avoided. The bandit enemies are fast and somewhat unpredictable, they duck and stumble and when 3 or 4 are comig at me in tight rooms its frantic gritt your teeth gameplay. The weapons are so far realy solid, particularly a pistol loaded with fatboys and the shotgun, real visceral feel to them. The wingstick really takes the cake tho, after only 3 hours playing my finger is constantly hovering twitch ready to let fly my bladed boomerang of death. something suprises me round a corner, wingstick. sneaking up on a group want to silently thin out the ranks, wingstick. Thick of the fight i've got bandits on all sides, wingstick, too the face, at pointblank. On the whole the few missions i've done have been tense and really fun.
The vehicle stuff is pretty decent, i mean i like it, the racing and shooting bandits is fun, but either the feel is just off or theybut it on a much gentler difficulty curve then the gunplay. Maybe i'll find it more enjoyable when i get upto the harder races.
overall, i'm having alot of fun with this game I hope alot of you are as well. Please share your thoughts on it so far. Did it live up so your expectations or not (again really sorry to the guys with driver issues or whatever) I'd rather this stay focused on the actual working game rather then bashing bethesda or Id or whoevers really to blame for that.
Also as a side. Remember the hatred and anger about the developers locking some part of the single player game that was originally on the disc for used sales? When i got my copy i had to valedate the sewer missions and download a 330mb file (correct me if im wrong but isn't that on par with some full sized after release dlc?) Does this mean its not really all on the disc? was this some misunderstanding that blew out of proportion? I havent played the sewer parts yet. it's still downloading so i don't now how important plotwise it is at all.
