RAGE to me looks...boring(mini rant)

OK I realize that RAGE "may" be the best game in existence but until I see an interview that doesn't result in the developer restating the fact they have vehicles in it every ten seconds, then I'm not sold I mean I would LIKE to get the game but there not making it very easy on me.

I research my purchase's long before hand(with a few impulsive moments like Crackdown 2)and I'm not putting 60 bucks for "Pretty graphics" or another shooter with vehicles as if that were groundbreaking in any way.

Also I realize the games around a year away, I just don't see the hype is all.

It's an id game. If it pushes out of generic gameplay I'd be impressed. As it stands, not so much.

Dude, it's a tech demo. It's not for gamers, although some will buy it, id is designing it as a showcase for idTech 5 so other devs buy into it - that's how they make their money, selling game engines while other companies pump them full of creativity.

Incidentally it's a big deal because of what they're doing with megatextures, which is actually pretty sweet and I can't wait to see someone do a jungle game with it.

That's fine but you can make a great engine and a great game at the same time Developers like Valve And Epic games prove this.

I do like the personality of some of the characters in the game from the trailers I've seen.

Except for the fact that idtech 5 essentially belongs to Bethesda, and can only be used in games published by them. News story a week or two ago, they're not going to be licensing the engine outside of the company.
