I've just got the new issue of GameInformer, and I read their cover story about the new game RAGE, but one thing kept popping in my mind, will it do worse in sales due to its similarity with Fallout 3? Both of these games look/are killer, and I was wondering if anyone is still going to get the new RAGE game when it comes out.

I haven't shown much interest for RAGE. Is it and RPG? Is it post-apocalyptic? If so then most likely I shall.

Hmm, though it may look similar, i really hope this isn't the beggining of something awful. I mean, it seems like developers won't be able to make a post-apocolyptic game without someone chanting "Fallout 3 look-alike!" from their gullets.

Yeah it looks exactly like it actually. So I'm not going to buy it until I know it wont be just a cheap knock-off.

Frankly, by the way it looks in development, I think it has very little similarities to Fallout 3 except for it's expansive nature and post-apocalyptic setting. While the games layout and concept may be similar, the actual design of the game will be developed in much different interests.

I stopped caring for Rage when I read the line "Rage's hero is a nameless, Silent Protagonist" In this month's GI.
Seems to me like they aren't straying far from the mold.

Rage is by id Software (now under the same company as Bethesda). They are my favorite developer and I will get the game. I've been following the game since they showed the first trailer. If anything this--to me--will be better than Fallout 3. It has racing, an open world, FPS elements, and it looks great.

I don't really like to compare games but it is post-apocalyptic as Fallout is. Hopefully it boosts sales.

What exactly does it have in common with Fallout 3 other than being post-apocalyptic?

I haven't heard of RAGE. I love Fallout 3, it's my second favorite game. Anything like Fallout 3 will earn a place in my video game collection.

It looks like a mix of FUEL (which sucked) and Fallout 3/STALKER-ish.
But it look interesting, even though there aren't any "real" gameplay videos out yet.

It looks somewhat similar to Fallout 3, but it seems to have a lot less RPG aspects, from what I read. I think it'll focus more on aiming than on stats.

open-ended world, mutants, creatable weapons, Bandits (which remind me a lot of raider from th fallout series,) a crazy man who owns his own entertainment gig, radiation. So quite a lot, not saying its bad, I'm just hoping it will distinguish itself enough for me to buy it.

I got my issue but I haven't read it. Another fallout 3 sounds interesting it was good and if they can provide interesting changes while cheating by copying the good formula, I'll buy it.

And the player character even emerges from a sealed, underground structure... (am I the only one who instantly thinks "Vault!"?)

Yeah, it does look very similar in a lot of ways, but pretty different (and maybe even better) in others. The setting, even though it's bleak and post-apocalyptic, seems somehow more vibrant and colorful than Fallout 3's. And of course there are the vehicles.

Yeah the player is a nameless, lone survivor of an underground ARK (vault) which was damaged during an earthquake. It does seem a lot like Fallout 3, but there's vehicles! And on another note, this is ID, the graphics look amazing! Plus if you've seen the video out

animations and AI look unreal too. It's strange to see them going in the direction of RPG though, that's a first for them, should be interesting though.

id Softwear is better than Bethesda.... this is why Bethesda bought id Softwear, so as to buy John Cormack's awesomeness.

Wow, that was an epic necro...
Ot: It looks pretty good anyway, I'd be more interested in seeing if the fallout team will adopt the engine as id have said it's bethesda only after Rage...

Never heard of it, couldn't care less, and thats about it. Maybe I'll get it when it's cheaper, but I'd rather have New Vegas.
