Clearly it would be Jyggalag. The whole reason that particular Daedric Prince was cursed by all the others to become Sheogorath was because he was taking over every Daedric realm and the other Princes couldn't defeat him on their own. So surely this question has been answered in official lore?

Well, it'd be Jyggalag without a doubt assuming the events of Shivering Isle are canon. Because if not, Jyggalag would suffer from the whole "being an insane summamabitch" problem that screwed him up in the first place

I'd like to start out by stating (you may or may not know) that the Aedra and the Daedra are the same class of beings. The Aedra simply gave up a portion of their power to create Mundus. Also all Aedra are immortal not mortal in the same sense Daedra are. They also cannot rightly show themselves as they are literally the entirety of the Mundus sphere. That is they are the planets, moons, and so forth.

Also another interesting note: The Sheogorath of today is thought to be the Champion of Cyrodil (or the person you played in oblivion). He is no longer a true Daedric Prince although he was bestowed all the powers of one.

Nocturne and Meridia are probably the two Daedra I like the most, but I wouldn't side with any of the bastards.

No one would really win cause none of them can die. Or at least you would have to invade their oblivion sphere and take it over. Something that if any of the princes could accomplish they would. It would literally be a war forever, unless they constrained themselves somehow like acting through mortals as they already do. Azura seems to have success in that regard.

Aedra are mortal. Just like the Daedra, their physical vessels can be destroyed aka 'killed' but unlike the Daedra whose souls just return to Oblivion to reform a new vessel, Aedra stay dead.

As far as I remember it is mentioned a few times in the lore (I'm sure it's mentioned in the climax of Oblivion). Whilst you're right that Aedra and Daedra were sort of the same race (although if I remember rightly Aedra are derived from Anu whereas Daedra are derived from Padomay), my understanding as that the Aedra lost power when taking part in the creation of the Mundus, and are no longer as immortal as Daedra. I think Bethesda deliberately keep it vague.

Personally, I'd be backing Azura. She's (it's?) pretty cool all-round I think.

Sheogorath, simply because he is both the God of Chaos and Order all at the same time. Excellent power on order that even the other Deadra can't beat and stark raving lunacy on the other making him utterly impossible to predict. Plus, CHEESE FOR EVERYONE!

Seeing as how I've pissed off most of the Daedra that I've encountered in Skyrim, its going to be a hard choice.

I turned Azura's Star black, and I refused to kill some guy for Mehrunes Dagon. I did party with Sanguine, though and have a dinner party in the mind of a psycopathic monarch with Sheogorath. Also, I purified Molag Bol's mace with violence. Although I'm not sure how morally responsible siding with the daedric lord of rape is. I'd go with Meridia or Hircine, most likely.

You say this like it's a hypothetical situation. When your Skyrim character dies there is going to be a rather awkward moment when the daedric princes realise that their champion is exactly the same person.


I'm not entirely sure what's going to happen then, but it won't be anything good.

as for the question I'm gonna have to go with Sheogorath there's just something about him that I like.

Perhaps Sanguine and Sheogorath would understand... probably not the others

It is part of their divine contract on creation. The ultimate price for creating Nirn. Remember TES lore; Lorkan, an Aedra and the one most credited for creation, died if I remember correctly. His heart was even sought after and affected Tamriel's history greatly.

You are absolutely correct that they can be killed and that Lorkan was "killed" by the other Aedra. However I've read books within the games that suggest he isn't actually dead, but is unable to take physical form any longer. However there is no particular reason to believe that a Daedra can't be slain in a similar fashion although we lack an account of such an event. The difference is we know that you can't slay a Daedra while they are outside of their Oblivion sphere. Even the weak ones don't actually die when you kill there physical forms. They will just return to their sphere and reform their physical body. You would theoretically have to destroy the spheres of oblivion they control, which is by no means an easy task. Arguably harder than destroying an Aedra that resides in Mundus (Which is arguably a unique oblivion sphere that has multiple God-like entities sharing control), but for a mortal to do either is pretty much impossible. Another difference is that it is impossible for a Daedric Prince to enter Mundus so long as the protective barrier remains active. It is possible for someone from Mundus to enter at least some Oblivion Spheres.

In either case it is effectively impossible to kill either an Aedra or Daedra as nothing that can kill either has access to one another. That is what I meant by "They are both immortal in the same sense". That they can both be killed, but its effectively impossible to do so.

The moons are apperently his decaying body too. (that is why they are dead and the one planet looks bloody) I've never really gotten that part, but apperently the major Aedra from the creation are all plants. It is sort of like the Roman/Greek thing where all the planets where gods.
