Risers, self righteous type of group that is doing the world a favor. We are the risers and destroy the meek to further are own agenda type.
Dredgers, for the Fallout 3 and borderlands style group. I don't like putting the in front of these types of groups but there doesn't seem like any other way.

If they are supposed to be insane, I would suggest something that reflects that, like "The Loonies", or "The Smileys" (Why yes, I do like Rockstar Games, how could you tell?)
However, if they are instead just violent sociopaths, I personally like the name "Reavers." Not like an official name, just a nickname given to them by others.

I'd recommend a mad-lib style "The {adjective} {noun(s)}", something like:
The Red Fist
The Iron Breakers
The Bone Cutters
The Broken Circle
The Skull Fuckers
Or a descriptive made-up noun like:
Cutters (I think it's reasonably assured that they cut people regularly)
Scabbies (if they're mutated by the plague and have massive oozing sores or something)
Flameheads (maybe they've got a thing for fire)

hmmm im kind of thinking of names that don't exactly consider the gang to be "a gang". For instance like "the infected" relates to the them being the same kind of thing but they aren't exactly in a organized gang. They just hang around each other because they know one another but there main goal is their own individual survival. is that what kind they are, or are they well organized, like a biker gang?

Hearing Raiders reminds me of the Oakland Raiders, the real life crazies.
Having a football name isn't such a bad idea. Something like the Bulldogz. Naming a gang after guns, or even better, their primary armament isn't a bad idea either.
