Nobody plays life on easy mode except for a straight white male. And as soon as you say a different demographic has it easier, then you just admitted to being an idiot. Except for cats. Cats have it easy.
I have literally never heard that phrase used seriously, if you have, you have all of my sympathy because I cannot imagine encountering someone that stupid.

"Easy listening" seriously why do people say this? Of course listening is easy we do it without even trying. Most of the time we do it when we dont want to

I hate it when someone is opposed to a certain subject, like bestiality or incest, for the simplistic reason of ?It?s just wrong? or ?It?s weird?. Seriously, actually try and think beyond your gut reaction to see why it is you think it?s wrong, or if it?s wrong at all.

People that blame everything on society or corporations without elaborating on it. Like, you know that society is us? And that we fund corporations? ?Supply and demand?? I?m reminded of Quagmire?s rant to Brian in Family Guy, about how he doesn?t like big business crushing small ones but he?s never seen down at the soup kitchen. Something like that.

People that insist, without a sliver of doubt in their mind, that homosexuality is a choice. No offence to any gay people here, but why would anyone in their right mind choose to be gay, when there are so many people that hate them for simply existing? You don?t need to be a scientist to understand that sexuality is primarily governed by hormones. Or sex drive, or whatever?well, my point is, you can?t just make yourself attracted to something.

People conflating paedophiles with child molesters. The media is the biggest offender with this one. Yes, I am going to say I feel sorry for paedophiles, rather than going on a massive witch-hunt for one guy who happens to like looking at naked cartoon girls on the internet. It?s only when they cross the boundary into child molestation, something that is illegal, that I lose sympathy for them.

People whining about Jon leaving Game Grumps and being replaced by Danny. It happened, he?s not coming back, GET OVER IT.

People complaining about whiny teenage protagonists in anime, while seemingly forgetting the fact that they?re teenagers and a lot of them are known for doing that. Like, how people say ?Edward is so emo in the 2003 FMA anime?. I?d like to see how you react if your father abandoned you for reasons unknown, your mother died, you lost two limbs and your brother?s body in an attempt to resurrect her, people are constantly trying to kill you, you were forced to kill another human being for the first time in your life...and all before you turned 16. And I?m saying this as a person who doesn?t even like the first anime.

Basically, most of the BS that I get fed up with is something called ?thought-terminating cliché?. You can search that on Wikipedia; I can?t be arsed to link it here.

"Watchmen is the best superhero comic ever." Riiiiiiight because Dark Knight Returns, Year One and Bendis' Daredevil never happened. If you don't like those, there's plenty of other examples of better stories. Watchmen wasn't that great as a story and it certainly isn't as fucking essential as people say it is. I know that's opinion but to ignore other great works in such away is stupid. It's not even a problem that's exclusive to comics.
That's not really BS, though. It's just an opinion.

Oh, and I personally think The Dark Knight Returns is overrated as hell (Year One is far better as a tightly constructed story), has terrible artwork, and loses some cultural significance now that everyone's used to "grimdark Batman". But the themes that Watchmen explores still feel relevant and original to this day.

To be honest, I don't think Watchmen is relevant at all now... But this is something we can chat about elsewhere, if at all.

But you're right, perhaps it is opinion. But, I dunno seems like a lot of better comics are dismissed.

I have to agree with your point, though; it does piss me off when people hate something "just because."

EDIT: "It's unnatural" is a terrible phrase.

There are many things, but I'm not going to list them all...in a single post.

One thing that gets me is when people say an acronym, but also say the word that the last letter stands for. I've heard of a lot of OS systems in my time. You wouldn't talk about an Operating System System would you, so why an OS system? Seriously, take just a second to think about what it is you are actually saying....

He spent basically that entire thing going on about how awesome it is to be a white male, how is that meant to be a retort?

People buying an apple product and suddenly the words "phone", "pc" and "computer" are deleted from their vocabulary.
"Hey, I can't find my iPhone. Can you iPhone my iPhone so I can find it?"
"Is there an iMac/Mac store nearby? My iMac/Mac is broken, and I kinda need an iMac/Mac to finish my homework."

Please read this.

What I'm about to copy and paste is a FB status I put on about a film I watched in class called "The Secret" and the comments that follows are from my stupid ass friends who believe in that crock of shit book. So I guess what I'm saying is, what pisses me off is people who fall for such shit.I will also put a star next to my posts just so you know, and also not all the comments are from the same person and I will label them as such:

**Oh man, not sure whether to laugh or cry, just watched the dumbest movie I've ever seen. It's called "The Secret" which is based off the book of the same name.

It's all about thinking positively and that's great but what it talks about is how "If you think positive, you can regrow your kidneys and cure your cancer" and that "If you think negatively, negative things will happen." Oh... so I guess my aunt died of cancer because she had negative thoughts or that ANYONE who has died in a hurricane or any other natural disaster brought it upon themselves.

I sincerely hope no one in my class actually believes that crock of shit.

FRIEND 1: I do. And the mind is a very powerful tool. To each there own tho !

FRIEND 2: That's not what the secret is saying. Its saying that the power of the mind can be beneficial. And that positive thinking equals positive results.

**: And that everything we know is wrong and how to control your weight... don't look at overweight people! It might not say it but it sure as fuck implies it.

Friend 3: (THIS IS THE ONLY ONE WITH RATIONAL THOUGHT): Did u guys watch that in class that movie was dumb

Friend 2: Lmao you can do all those things! Negative people havr terrible lives. Truth. (Just as a side note, I hate people who fucking end their sentences with truth, what fucking morons)

**: Most People who are "negative" become "negative" because of "negative" things in their lives. Look at kids with leukemia, they're almost always positive but that doesn't stop them from dying.

Friend 2: Attitude it a choice. Not cause and effect friend.

Friend 1: Narrow minded people will have narrow minded results Too each there own like I mentioned before !

**: "To each their own" only works when "their own" doesn't effect yours.

I think I need to find better and smarter friends.

Wow captcha got it spot on: just friends

You seem to think that this was some sort of event horizon of stupid, seeing how you wrote "Please read this", but it's really not. Careless and thoughtless, yes, but it's not even the stupidest thing I've heard in the last hour.

Besides, extolling the virtues of positive thinking, even if they claim false benefits, is still not a bad thing.

Now, if your friends were waxing eloquent of the benefits of blood diamonds (true story), THEN we'd have something to properly facepalm at.

My brother recently said that there's no point in bringing old movies to BluRay because their resolution is lower than 1080p.

Well, some music is easier to pay attention to. Taking it to the extremes, you can play this-
-and carry on with what you're doing. It doesn't require much attention to really appreciate and makes you quite relaxed.

On the other hand, if you want to listen to this-
It generally demands a bit more attention, it's more effort to appreciate. It's just semantics, 'easy listening' sounds better than 'easy to appreciate'.

I'd like to point out that I don't want to be one of those music snobs- Just because something is harder/easier to appreciate doesn't necessarily make it better.

EDIT: I thought I'd posted already in here, but apparently I haven't.

'People in Africa have it so much worse than you, be grateful!'- I am fucking grateful. Doesn't mean I don't have my own problems.

'I don't understand why people commit suicide, why don't they go on a crazy adventure or something!' Suicidal people don't want an adventure, suicidal people want to die. I can kind of understand why people might not understand mental illnesses, it's a mental illness, they think differently, don't expect to understand. Just don't be surprised when they think something that might seem irrational to you.

'Marriage should be between a man and a woman'- If you're fine with homosexual people there is no sensible reason to be against it. Even if you have religious views, marriage isn't necessarily a religious ceremony.

Anything along the lines of 'be tolerant of my views!' when their views are bigoted.

'Creationism is equally viable'- No, no it is not. There is a wealth of evidence for evolution, the overwhelming majority of people who actually know what the fuck they're talking about support it.

Natural gas and fracking are fantastic solutions to improve our economy. Their extensive use across the country and the planet has no long-term consequences whatsoever.
Fun fact, NZ has such an abundance of Natural Gas that it is often BURNT OFF at construction sites.

It's cheaper for us to BURN IT than to ship it and sell it. You guys live in the wrong country.

Also people don't know WTF irony is.

Oh, isn't that a conundrum you're in? MUST BE IRONIC, HUH.

People who say "Well, he/she is only in it for the money/fame".

This is the precise argument people use when they know damn well they are wrong.

People who see or read one skewed source of information and then declare that they know far more than people who have spent their entire lives studying the matter and call them blind sheep who follow the "official story". This applies mostly to conspiracy theorists, who I have a lot of problems with.

The phrase "Just saying" or something of similar effect. Maybe it's because I associate it with Ray William Johnson, but I find it so annoying to hear/read. It it almost always preceded by the most inane and/or offensive and/or nonsensical statements that the individual has convinced themselves that it 1) It is such a good and irrefutable point and 2) including "Just saying" is a protection against any kind of criticism, perhaps attempting to distance themselves from what they just said.

Uh giving people false solutions to problems is quite bad. It could mean they never find a real solution
If your positive thinking directly results in false solutions, you're doing it VERY wrong. Hence the "false benefits" note.
