My computer is by no means top-of-the-line. In fact, it's a veritable piece of shit. However, I have at least been able to play older games, and newer ones with the graphics settings down. However, unless the game is very old, ten years or more, I am able to get fifteen minutes to half an hour of gameplay before, sudddenly and very rapidly, the framerate drops. It goes from 60 FPS to 5-10 FPS in a second. This only started happening a couple of months ago; everything was fine before then. It's not from a virus, I've checked several times, and it's not an issue of having little space. Does anyone have any idea what could have suddenly caused my computer to start doing this?

Try running this first:

See what you're temperatures are, then post them here.

From my moderate knowledge of computer hardware, I'd suggest it's an overheating problem; have you tried cleaning your cpu (and other) fans?
