So for a long time I have wanted to decorate my room, which currently is huge and completely blank. Everywhere I look it's just white wall after white wall after another 20+ feet of white wall.

So I was thinking about taking some of my favorite desktop wallpapers, editing them, and turning them into large custom wall murals.

Of course that idea was crazy, every website seemed to want 120 dollars or more for a print that wouldn't even take up 1/4 of a single wall!

Well enter the Rasterbator, a program which allows you to take any image and resize it into a custom mural and then print it out page by page.

Has anyone used or tried this program? I looked up some reviews of it online and most people seem to like it.

Considering I can buy color printouts at Kinko's for 60 cents a page a 10 page mural would cost like 6 dollars as opposed to 120+.

Any thoughts on this idea? Should I get cranking? What would you toss onto your wall if you had the room for one picture?

I don't know about the program, but if I were you, I'd ask Kinkos[footnote]and any other local print shops; shop around. My university actually does poster printing on campus, and it costs less than any private business will do it for.[/footnote] how much it would cost to get those images printed in poster size. They might not take up a quarter of your wall at a stretch, but chances are they'll look better and come out cheaper than either option.

Well yeah one large poster would be better, but as I said they would want way more than 100 dollars according to their website. I'd rather have it be 4-15 dollars and pasted together.

Actually I do have a student copy shop, although i'm not sure if I would feel good going in there and printing off 28 pages for a poster. I'd rather spend like 10 bucks and not be the guy wasting everyone elses time and university resources. I'm not sure if they even let students print non school related stuff, especially in color and in bulk.

I just looked up Kinkos, and they only ask about $30 for a poster, and that's for a heavy duty advertising poster. A poster sized print on relatively light paper stock maybe a lot cheaper. You've got the right idea in thinking smaller, but you're thinking too small; there's a middle ground here, and going to either extreme may make things more expensive. As for your university printers, that's what they're there for. At my school, you get $2.50 worth of free prints every day, and after that you pay for it. I'd be shocked if yours worked much differently.

Edit: Also, look at the post above this one. Those internet sites aren't necessarily the best place to look.
