ESRB rates games with adult content "A"...I Have never actually seen a rated A game in stores or even heared of them online. Do they still make rated "A" games? do they even exist?
If so are there any notable rated A titles you could share?

I believe you're thinking of AO, "Adults Only". The only AO game I know off the top of my head is the pre-Hot Coffee version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which is just about impossible to find nowadays unless you're willing to shell out at least a hundred smackers.

Most stores won't carry a game that's rated AO, so not many of them exist. It's as simple as that, really.

"A" means "Adults Only"... i.e. 18 and up only.
And no, I haven't really seen any games with that rating (although Manhunt 2 supposedly came close to getting that rating). The two main reasons for this are that its a bit redundant since we already have the "M" rating which is 17 and up... the other reason is that most of the companies that control what games go on their consoles don't tend to allow games to get that rating. Again, considering what we get on "M" rated games, it seems a bit weird.

Well seeing as every store refuses to stock them and every console company refuses to allow one to play on their console it's not exactly surprising to see that there aren't actually any Ao games to find. Besides, most people who try to make Ao games either put in an amazing amount of needless gore or sex.

It's actually "Ao" for 'Adults Only' as previous posters have mentioned, and most retail stores won't carry games with that rating. You usually have to special order them, although I've seen uncensored versions of the Leisure Suite Larry games available on D2D that carry the "Ao" rating.

18+
Oh, I see.

We have plenty of them over here, they aren't as big a deal.

Only one game has ever been banned in Ireland. Manhunt 2.
Your 18+ rating is our 17+. Our Ao rating is reserved for porn and in some cases extreme violence.

OT: Not many of them get made because most retailers refuse to carry them, and all the consoles refuses to allow Ao games to work on their machine. Most of them are just H games. If you're truly interested go to J list.

There's a certain type of 18+ game I can name many of. <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.128851>I <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.135672>review <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.130703>them, <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.163769>in <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.148564>fact.

I suspect that might not be what you're talking about, though.

Most stores won't sell AO-rated games, and the majority of games that would get rated AO (that is, porn games) do not get submitted for ratings. That said, you can find adult games from fine online porn game merchants, and probably several sex shops.

Aside from when GTA San Andreas temporarily got re-rated AO, the only other AO game I can name is "Swingers," which was like The Sims, but with more nudity. There was both an M-rated and an AO-rated version of that one.
