There's a lot of metalheads here on the Escapist, so to mix things up a bit, I was wondering if anyone on the Escapist considers themselves to be a Raver? Or just regularly attend Raves for that matter?

Personally, I've been to two Raves so far, don't really think I'm a "Raver" per se, but I do enjoy Raves, and "Rave music", mainly into Hardcore, with a bit of Psytrance on the side. Will be attending a pretty big (~1500) party next saturday, starring, among others, Hallucinogen [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallucinogen_%28musician%29], it'll be awesome.

So, anyone else enjoys dancing the enitre night away?

I've been to one rave and I can't say I'll be going to another one. While I do listen to some rave/electronnica/dance music, it's usually only when I'm in a particular mood.

I'm not really into 'raving' I personally would prefer to sit by myself listening to music I like, instead of Dance music... Unless anyone would be willing to put on 'Aces High' by Iron maiden on into the rave... In which case - :D

Personally, I love both metal and electronic music and have gone to many shows for both. I guess I'm a 'Mosher' and a 'Raver'.. Maver? Rosher? Rasher? Mover?

Hehe, I know the feeling, I generally dress like a punk, and do indeed listen to quite a bit of punk music, but I also attend raves, and listen to electronic music... does that make me a Prunk? A Praver? Dunno.

I thought you were trying to reference Firefly then, but miss-spelled "Reaver".

On Topic: I have never been to an official rave, but I went to see Placebo live once, and jumped around a bit with my friends when they started playing a song called Julien [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYbfzqiZGTc], if that counts.

Yeah, I actually recentley attended the Harvest of Hope (3 day Punk rock festival in Jacksonville, FL) and suddenly have an insatiable desire for punk. Heh...

Never been to a rave but I plan on it.

I like "rave music" and by rave music I mean trance, house, hardcore, and the rest just depends on the song. So I could be completely mucking up the musical terms here.

Despite having never been to a rave, I have learned how to liquid dance, and made an unsuccessful attempt at learning the Melbourne shuffle because t-step is the farthest I can get without looking like I belong on the short bus.

Incidentally, I'm also a huge fan of metal.

I've never been to a rave. Really, really not my scene. I don't understand how jumping around with a bunch of sweaty, drunk teenagers can be considered fun.

Been raving since 2004, mainly hardcore and drum and bass.
I'm also a DJ and I produce on the side for education, not for release.

Explain how that's different form a Metal/punk/rock/rap show?

I dislike what I would consider "rave" music rather a lot (others may be thinking of something completely different), though if I'm drunk I'll usually be fine with most things, since at that point I don't care.
