Hey PC gamers, I have a question.

What do you guys think of Razer brand gaming gear? At 80-100$ for a mouse, is it worth it to you? What do you guys use on your rigs?
I own the Lachesis,(mouse) and the Lycosa(keybord).
After buying these, I have to say I'm a fan.

I have a razer diamondback and I love it, especially the "on the fly sensitivity".

(I can change the sensitivity when I want, really easily)

if I played games a lot online I bet it would be worth it.

Or if they made their products vastly superior in every way and it was easily noticeable.

i don't play multiplayer though becasue my internet is only mildly functional and my gaming machine is crappy.

I'd have to try their stuff out to confirm or call BS on teh second piece. Or just ask everyone here. Is it vastly and noticeably better to game with these? Like how an affordable ford drives so much less well than a mercedes?

I've used different brand of mice/keyboards and I honestly don't really feel a difference in the long run because you can tune sensitivities and such. The only real differences in some things might be the way a mouse's texture or weight feels, or whatever a keyboard is made out of or how responsive it is. Unless you end up on the extremes of the spectrum (like say a keyboard is terribly unresponsive) you adapt that you won't notice a difference between most products.

I personally just stick with a logitech mouse and keyboard. After a year or two of using them I just got used to them and bought a couple of replacements just in case, and have been using the same keyboard/mouse models for like 8 years.

Edit: Also I will never buy a headset that is more than $40, they break no matter what the cost after some time and if you take a few steps to extend their life than you feel less of a loss paying $40 or less than if you had spent like $130+ on some headsets.
Also I'm not a huge fan of the expensive mice just having these odd shapes, or huge mice wheels, what happened to making a mouse that conforms to a comfortable hand shape?

I'm using an old hp HEWLETT PACKARD keyboard and a Microsoft office mouse (or so I think it is) and I must say I'm still pretty decent!

I really don't like the way the Razer mice look, and some of them also look extremely uncomfortable.
Can't say anything about the price though since I use a G15 keyboard and a G500 mouse.

I guess the best comparison would be: If the average laser mouse was a mercedes, then a Razer would be the one with lights on the side and furry dice hanging from the rear-view mirror.

I have a 2nd gen G5 back at home, and the difference between a $10-20 dollar mouse at Best Buy and a G5 is night and day. In FPS games a good gaming mouse is almost a must. Only in rare cases would you find pro gamers using what would be called a "Regular" old mouse. One exception was the Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0. That thing was pro.

Performance Gaming Mice tend to track much better on surfaces, they can also handle much quicker movements. They allow you to make very quick movements while retaining the precision you need to make those ever so important kill shots.

I had a Razer mouse, and loved it like it was my own. But then I dropped it a few times and it no longer works, and now I cry myself to sleep over killing one of my children.

Most definitely not!

I'm a Logitech fanboy. My G15 keyboard, G35 headset, and G5 mouse are all amazing pieces of work. I would really like to replace my G5 with a G500, but I don't have the money right now. Same goes for the Amazingly awesome G19 keyboard... OLED screen? Awesome!

Oddly enough, I have the exact same as you. And I would never buy another keyboard from them. Mine is shite.

I use a WolfKing Warrior and a Microsoft Sidewinder 8. I'm not a big fan of Razer's mice, and I need my keyboard to take up as little space as possible, as well as be wireless. The Wolfking is a fantastic piece of gaming equipment. I can't imagine ever going to back to a standard keyboard.

I started with the Death Adder, and the Tarantula. They lasted (ahem) about 2 and a half years...

I don't know if thats a good thing, but I'm still sold.

I use one of the old deathadders, that's the 1800 dpi version. The difference between it and non-gaming grade mice is huge. Anyone telling you differently has either not used both or is lying.

As for razer in particular, I'm not entirely sold. I think that they are quite overpriced for what they offer. Their mice are fantastic but pricey. I've used a Lycosa and really hated it, luckily enough it wasn't mine because I don't think I'd touch a razer keyboard after trying it. When it comes to headsets I wouldn't go near razer, or any gaming gear manufacturer for that matter. In my opinion it's a much better idea to go for sennheisers or audio technicas as they make high quality headphones designed for audiophiles - they are expensive but you get what you pay for, rather than a flashy pair that are of lower quality and more prone to breaking. I've used steelseries 5hv2s and they are utter muck compared to the HD555s I currently use.

I have a Diamondback and a Salmosa, both of which I like quite a lot. I prefer the flatter/ambidextruous shape to Logitech's gaming mice as I don't rest my palm on my mouse.
