So a company called Razer has unveiled its new product, called the Switchblade. Its basically a 7 inch screen netbook optimised for PC gaming on the move. Razer seems to be pushing it as a more 'hardcore' alternative to the DS and PSP. Its gimmick seems to be a sort of context responsive keyboard in which all the buttons have tiny screens and can change to respond the game being played. The link below will explain it better.

I think it seems interesting, but it worries me that the highest spec game being showcased is WoW. What do you people think?

It is the most popular game being showcased for the audience, while those who made the laptop hope that wow players will be more interested to buy it.

True, but all they show is WoW, Warcraft 3 and Quake 3. My question is, why Warcraft and Quake unless thats all it can run? Surely if it had the ability, they would be showing more recent games.

perhaps it was cheaper to get licence to these games, to promote their computer?

It looks like, done correctly, this could be a great step forward for PC gaming. Not in terms of what is possible, but in terms of how accessible it is. PC gaming turns off a lot of people who don't want to build their own rigs, so this could be an easy, portable alternative. At least that's the way I see it.

It looks amazing. Sure, the tech probably isn't messianic, but the tiny size of it and unique keyboard definitely interest me. It's probably gonna be really expensive on release, but every new piece of technology always is.

Also, for those who may be wondering how the keyboard does that, the Switchblade's basically two screens. One used as a conventional screen and one placed under the keys that changes on demand.

IT'S FROM THE FUTURE! DESTROY IT OR A PARADOX WILL KILL US ALL! KILL US AAAAAAAAAAALL!

If I had the money, I would definitely buy that. However... I don't :/

Gotta love Razer, they have such... sexy products.

It's actually a concept only. The idea is for Razer to partner with other companies to make a refined version for commercial release. Sick little unit though, I'd love to get my hands on one! The reason for the Blizzard titles is probably because Razer already have a standing contract with them.

That looks interesting. Will it have ca[abilities away from just gaming or will it just be a computer screen with easier keys? Oo If it worked both ways yeah, I'd jump on that. If not, I won't waste my time. I'm not having THAT big of an issue.
