So after professing my love for Red Dead Redemption on this here site and doing actual work for a week; I got it for PS3.

And now I can't stop playing it. Jesus, this game is awesome!

The only thing I don't like about it? Mexico.

It's just. Bleh. It's miles of desert, canine/feline animals and cacti.

Not to mention that there seemed to be an endless supply of missions to do there.

I normally wouldn't have a problem with that were it not for the fact that most of them were the same "Chase after the military/rebels and kill/capture someone." or "Train mission."

I finally completed all of them and had some decent fun with abusing my new donkey.

But I still think Mexico needed a bit more work in terms of making it not so repetitive and bland.

Anyways, I'm now in the beginning of New Elizabeth (I think that's the name, right?) and have my American Standardbred after a particularly intense horsebreaking session.

Next stop: Finish the game and get 100% completion.

[small]Not like I can do anything else when I have NAT3 and can't play online. Stupid shitty internet.[/small]

Anyways, what did/do you think of RDR's rendition of Mexico?

You are playing Mexico in the Wild West.
Maybe I don't know too much about geography, but what do you expect?

Well, yeah. But they could still have done maybe some more variation with the missions at least.

Maybe a few more towns and such.

Mexico should have had roller coasters instead of cacti, that way it wouldn't be boring.

Oh, so you don't like Mexico, do you? I fucking hate people like you. You come to my land, kill my people. You rape our women, you kill our men. And wost of all, you steel our tequila, YOU SICK SON OF A *****!

Uh, sorry to hear that? I rather liked Mexico. I thought it was the most fun area in the game. There's something charming about miles of endless desert.

Until you lose your horse. Then it fucking sucks.

Weird, I immediately got my horse back when I go there. I just whistled and he ran out from the hills. Kinda odd, but not complaining.

But yeah, I didn't think Mexico was bad. Kinda annoying how
The one army guy made you do about 50 missions for nothing before ultimately betraying you.

I loved Mexico until I beat it. [spoiler/]It just felt so cool to be part of the army and then switch sides and start a revolution. It was also cool later, looking at a newspaper and seeing that the guy is just as much of a monster as the last guy. The only thing I didn't like was not being able to go to any shops because of high karma[/spoiler]

And he didn't even really have that good a reason to do it either.

I borrowed RDR from a friend of mine, and I finished Mexico right before I had to give it back when I moved.

I had some really fun/funny moments in Mexico, but yeah, when there was nothing going on, it was boring out in the desert.

The thing was, level-wise, it was fun. I lived with a Hispanic family, one of whom had a save file, and when I reached Mexico, he translated most of the stuff they said, making it a lot funnier. I forget most of it now though. Still, there was an akward part when my cousin came in during the introduction of The Gates of El Presido. Look it up and you'll know what part I mean -_-.

That being said, yeah, it was the weakest part of the game.

I thought Mexico was alright. I didn't like it as much as the first area that you start in, but I didn't hate it.

I did like that there were some random encounters that were not in the first area. (Army executing someone, cannibal, etc.)

Mexico? It was annoying how far you had to ride for a decent shop, but all in all the wide wasteland was appropriate and had a good atmosphere.

I thought Mexico was great. Maybe it's because I'm Hispanic, but I liked the atmosphere.

I enjoyed Mexico. It had strong atmosphere and the missions were fun. It really felt like I was in the early 1900's Mexico. The first area is still the best and felt the most like a spaghetti western but I definately prefer mexico over the last area.
