So, I've been following details on Red Dead Redemption pretty closely, because I'm really excited for it.

Today, 12 minutes ago, Rockstar released their video of the multiplayer in Red Dead Redemption.

What do you guys think? Awesome, pretentious, boring?

Looks totally awesome to me. I can't wait for the game.

EDIT: RDR comes out May 18th in North America... No idea for Europe, Australia.

21st of may in the Uk.

The game looks amazing.

The only problem I see is smiler to an engineering one, the more stuff you put in something the more things that can break.

It also seems, if you don't have a group of friends to walk around with you will die, ALOT!

If they can sort out those two things it should be an awesome game.

Yeah. Since they claim that the world is the game lobby, I picture posse's just hunting down whoever joins the game.

I need more details I think.

And, btw, there are a couple reviews of the Multiplayer up.

IGN's take. [http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/108/1082168p2.html]

I'm gonna play this game until my butt falls off from being sat on too much.

Although, there's one thing I've not seen in any trailers yet (or if it's there, I haven't noticed), where are all the native Americans? I saw one as a playable character in that trailer, but that's been about it.

Just hard to imagine the 'cowboys & injuns' without the 'injuns', is all.

Not gonna stop me from enjoying the hell outta this game though.

Given the time period I don't know how surprising it is.
Most cowboy lore is set up in the 1800s, prior to the civil war even.

This game is set after 1900. At that point in history, the genocide and remove of the American Indians was almost complete. Just about anyone who was an indian was on a reservation, either in Oklahoma or in the Badlands. Unless we had already taken the badlands from them at that point.

As long as it's legitimate (like, as you mentioned, the time period) and not some "We don't wanna piss anyone off"/PC crap, I'll make do.

I mean, I'll be the first to admit, I'm not that familiar with western lore and history other than the basics and what I've learned by watching The Good, The Bad and The Ugly about 25 times with my dad.

I wasn't really interested in this at first, but after watching all the awesome documentary style trailers I can't wait to get it, I might have to not get Splinter Cell Conviction for this.

I swear, Muse's song Knights Of Cydonia HAS to be the credits song for RDR. Hehe.
That would be awesome.

And I'd also like to see this in there, though I'm pretty sure it'll never happen.

Just imagine chasing down a stagecoach/rustler/bandito with this playing;

Heh, and Clint Eastwood movies are generally based in the mythical West rather than the actual west. But, supposedly, Westerns and Spaghetti Westerns served as an inspiration for the game, so I imagine we'll see some of those awesome troupes in the game. At least, we had damn well better. Hell.

Australian gamers did a cool write up fo the multiplayer reveal. [http://www.ausgamers.com/features/read/2882194]
