I'd say games... they're interactive, in reading you only flip the pages.
I'll try to be consise in my response to this, because I'm sure I could go on for ages, but interactivity does not necessarily provide a richer experience. It can, sure, but more often than not, a well crafted story with multiple deep characters and numerous dramatic moments will easily defeat Shooter #430 for an immersive experience. Perhaps not necessarily a more visceral experience, but a generally deeper and more engaging one.
People who don't like reading just havn't found the right book yet.
@Cab00se206 - See if you can find the Hyperion and Endymion omnibusses by Richard Simmons. Excellent, excellent reads.
@rayman 101 - Book series I thoroughly enjoyed was The Wheel of Time, Robert Jordan. It's a looooong series, but I really liked reading through it. The first book,
The Eye of the World kinda starts out like
Lord of the Rings... but I promise it doesn't stay that way.
And anyone else who wants recommendations:
The Gunslinger, Stephen King, book one of the Dark Tower.
Ender's Game, Orson Scott Card.
