I've always wanted a game where they just dropped you in a scenario and you had to complete the objective in however way you see fit. I hate it when games give you a "Choice" on how to complete an objective, because 9 times out of 10 that choice will be one out of the three available, all three being either extremely similar or completely different in the way you approach them. So my choices are A: Butcher Everything, B: Butcher Everything from a Distance, or C: Sneak around, then get caught and Butcher Everything. Yeah, real nice choice system. I actually believe that Assassin's Creed is a game that came VERY close to winning the Actual Freedom of Choice Award, because with just a couple more design pushes you could have had just that, freedom of choice. If instead of asking for permission to collect data, you just collected data. And also choosing from the data which path you would take, you would have free choice of your actions. Also not having to ask for permission EVERY freaking time you wanted to kill someone slightly more important than all those de-synchronizing bastardy peasants would be a plus, because you're working on your own schedule. Imagine if you had a game where you could just gather your info by observing your surroundings, and then planning your attack based on your findings. I am sure this game would have a lot of depth and replay value if it did took the design considerations into perspective, and I think it would be more entertaining than just playing someone else' story if you had control of the creative reins.

Enough of what I think about thios, what about you?

Do you think "Find the target/complete objective X" games would be improved if you had this kind of freedom of choice?
