the sex is gone
There's just as much graphic sex in F3 as there is in the previous two.

On another note, you should've bought it for PC and downloaded one of the mods that make the gameplay a bit harsher.

Also the enemy design for monsters 20+> is basically bullet sponges that can hurt you. They could've done so much more with Broken Steel than add crappy enemies and crappy perks.
In fallout 3 you can sleep next to a hooker, vs. being a porn star, being a fluffer, banging a guys wife and daughter, getting married, getting stds.

Hell even lines like "My ass has seen more rubber than a dead rat on route 66" and "I'll tie my breasts in a knot for 5 caps" you just can't compare. It wasn't about being graphic, it was the emplied ability that added realism because thats what people want to be doing.

Excuse me if I'm being obnoxious here, but who cares?
Is the game fun to play? To me, yes. I find it fun fighting a squadron of Super Mutants in my underpants. And deatclaw-rockets are pretty funny in my opininon.
Maybe I'd see it differently if I played the other Fallout games, but to me it seems your thinking too hard.
Nah don't worry, I've played the old ones and I think think like you.

To be honesy, they're fairly bad games.

Also, has anyone noticed that OP just seems to be flaming Blizz/Bethesda? Theres not much else to this thread.
He's not flaming it. He's just expressing frustration at a game he felt was a bit of a let down in his personal opinion. I don't think we should blast him for that. I don't think he was angry about the whole head shot thing, he's frustrated about the fact that you can put around 20 shots into a supposedly weak opponent and still not have them go down. I can see his frustration in that, having experienced it on very hard putting 30 pistol rounds and 7 hunting rifle shots into a supermutant brute and having him minigun me down anyway (that said I enjoyed that, being a fan of ridiculously hard fights.)

You can say the world isn't realistic, and it isn't, but the rule of suspension of disbelief warrants that the physics should make sense within the game world. Otherwise things seem a bit off.

He's not just complaining about the realism either, he pointed out several flaws in the gameplay and they all made sense. He even said it was still one of the best games he played.

Just trying to give the guy a break...

By now I think we've all seen an enemy shot 5,000 feet in the air only to come down and die the second they hit the ground.. that's the only thing that could be called a glitch that I've ran into.

Hyperbole much?
Really? They come back down? I had just seen a deathclaw fly into the sky, but never seen it fall back down :0 cool.

Anyways, I thought the combat system was the best in any RPG ever made, but that's probably because I'm not worthy of true games that had been made exclusively for the PC about 15 years ago. Sorry, I thought toning "first aid" and "doctor" down to just "medicine" was a good decision, and many of the skills from Fallout 2 were goddamn useless.
Though the optional traits were damn cool back then, I had hoped for them to come back.

The quality of writing is a joke compared to the originals. And in the originals the guy with the machine gun pulverised the guy with the knife at point blank range if he wasn't wearing power armour. Why? Because otherwise it would be an immersion breaking 'wat?' moment.

All your bitching is way, way over the top especially when it's blown out of proportion or just.. pointless.

Sex in the game? Who the hell cares, I mean it's not exactly like it was back then eh? You still have the amazingly large amounts of sleaze running around the Wasteland; prostitutes, women sleeping with men for protection, etc. And then the only thing missing really is the.. few different types of ammo? It's not like there was THAT much in terms of weapons for the original games, I've played them... same with the sense of humor.

But either way, as far as the Point Outlook enemies go.. yeah, I understand what they were trying to do.. people bitched and so they did something about it, and now people are just bitching some more about that. Personally, I can take it either way.. just switches up my play styles.

And the game wasn't all that glitchy at all. By now I think we've all seen an enemy shot 5,000 feet in the air only to come down and die the second they hit the ground.. that's the only thing that could be called a glitch that I've ran into.

Hyperbole much?
Oh yeah little things like quest related characters randomly dissapearing, cliffs that have no collision, bullets that travel backward through your gun, npcs flying into the sky, perks that don't affect the weapons they are supposed to, npc models deforming into nightmarish 12 foot long fingers, falling out of world, heads spinning like the exorcist, etc.

God forbid someone holds their standards above the half-assery that gets put out. Hell it was pretty much an oblivion mod most of these problems could have easily been fixed. The last boss of operation anchorage fight has your teammates go hostile for no reason.

The game doesn't have the same writing style as the previous iterations because games nowadays can use other methods to get you to care about the story. Sure, that doesn't mean a pretty game with no story is good but because their are other things to entertain us games need to spread out and not focus on just one aspect. Otherwise, this thread would be "Fallout 3: great story, absolutely horrible gameplay/graphics/layout." Its a good game, just because it isn't the same game as the original fallouts doesn't make it any worse. Times change, cultures evolve, and people get over it or risk becoming a crochety old man complaining about "newfangled" things.

I think its more the gaming industry has turned into a shambling corporate monster that spews out shiny looking games with no substance because kids today all have add and have no idea of how awesome games could be if they kept their standards a bit higher. It's just like people that go see Micheal Bay movies, it's killing the genre.

Quest related characters; never happened to me, or anyone I know. Walter and Colin both can dissapear
Cliffs with no collision; what are you going on about? If you go out in the wastes theres a cliff texture model that gets cut and pasted throughout the world that you can walk through, its almost everywhere in the north
Backwards bullets; Shoot anyone in vats point blank
NPCs flying in the sky; Seen it happen with deathclaws twice.
Perk problems; you made that one up, right? Pyromaniac doesn't affect the named flamer
NPC models deforming; I once saw a raiders hand get so distorted I thought it was a giant bat.
Falling out of world; Walking backwards down staircase in a shack basement of point lookout, also the diner in cantebury commons.
Heads spinning; Talk to a swimming npc.

Spindle, chill out. You are nitpicking an otherwise great game. If I were to go and replay fallout 1 &2 I am sure I can find some problems with them as well. Your last post says that you have put 200 hours into the game, most of which I am assuming were enjoyable, otherwise you wouldn't have continued playing it. The game wasn't designed for people to spend all day digging through the fun to find the mistakes. As with ANYTHING in life, if you go around looking for its faults, you can find them easily.

And why would it matter if somebody doesn't know who an extremely minor character in a massive game is? Isn't it enough to enjoy the spectacle of talking to a treeman without having to know his back story and ancestry? Am I not allowed to enjoy a ham sandwich without knowing the breeding history of the pig?

So, the game sucks so much you've spent 200 irreplaceable hours of your lifespan playing it? Yeah, I've seen that reasoning before... usually just before the guys in the white coats arrive with a straitjacket.

Your walk doesn't match your talk, lad. If you despise the game so much, don't play it; problem solved. If you do play it so much, then you're either a sucker for punishment (and therefor shouldn't be griping) or you don't dislike Fallout 3 nearly as much as you claim (and therefor shouldn't be griping).

So stop griping.
