Programs like Big Brother just annoy me, they take no talent to create and are just a cheap way for channels to make money from phone lines. It makes me feel sad because this could be the future because its like the generic, grey FPS a soft and safe option as it requires no writers, directors and actors making it cheap. What do you think?

As much as I hate reality television and wish it would go away, it probably does have a future, unfortunately. The sad truth is that it appeals to a lot of the stupids in today's society, so no matter how bad it is, it still gets the ratings. This makes me very sad, as the money spent on reality TV could be used to make the rest of TV good again.

This should have been in Off-Topic, by the way.

I can't find a single reality television show I like. That may just be because I realize how many of them are faked.

Reality TV is so much cheaper to create. That's why it will stay around. You don't need to make sets and pay writers or actors. You might pay one person who "wins", but that's only a small fraction of the savings over a typical show.

Hmm, it's a good thing I don't watch any TV really. I've hated the concept of reality shows since it's advent, and the blabbering fans of those shows nearly drove me insane throughout high school. Like many others, I too wish it would go away and that we can have more quality shows that actually take effort to make and don't offer such a hollow experience. There are still plenty of other types of programs out there thankfully, but their quality has also unfortunately slumped as well.

As for whether it has a future or not, well as long as people keep eating up this crap more shall be made. look at freaking survivor, I think I was in eight grade when that started and I'm 20-21 now. I can't remember how many they have had in those 6 or 7 years.

EDIT: this shouldn't be in the games discussion forum by the way...

...I'll just make this really simple. I'm not even going to bother explaining myself. No explanation is needed.

Reality television needs to die.

It never should have existed.

Unscripted television is the future.

A future I hate.

But the future nonetheless. Reality programming is easy, is retarded, and feeds the natural human desire to go to a freakshow.

Get used to it, as reality programming will take over the world.

Yes, it has a future, because stupid people will always watch it. I feel dumber even knowing what it is. The most hilarious thing is when people still think that reality TV is real. It isn't. How many times have you seen people get into fights on "The Real World" or some other such TV show? Then they run off and stand on a balcony or something, only to be followed and then talked to by another person. You don't think it's odd that the camera man was already standing on the balcony? It's scripted.

What also annoys the hell out of me is when they try to hype something up through TV ads... something along the lines of "Honey, I'm pregnant." Cut to a scene of the man sitting solemnly... just staring off into space. So you get kind of excited for some drama. Then the actual TV show airs, and it's "Honey, I'm pregnant." -- "Seriously? That's awesome! I love kids! This is going to be great, I love you."

Stupid.

Its painful how scripted these "reality" shows are. Just pay attention the next time one of these abominations assaults your screen. Notice how the actors are doing just that, acting. The things they say and the situations that arise are so clearly contrived and scripted, if it was truly unscripted television then conversations would be a lot more... real. Also I agree with the whole ego thing, anything that makes the viewer like themselves will be an instant hit.

It probably does have a future because networks know that they're cheap and they've been able to convince the dumb ass TV watching majority that they're good.

As long as people are willing to watch other people who are stuck on an island b**** about the people they're stuck with, reality TV will have a future.

Kind of a tricky question...
Most of the time it's pretty boring, but it can be funny watching a load of people grow to despise each other, then be generally miserable until they get evicted or whatever.
Usually makes me feel better if I start thinking my life sucks...

Does reality T.V. have a future?

Yes, though I really wished it didn't. There are a lot of people who watch this crap... this kind of T.V., so although most of us ***** and moan about it I'm afraid its here to stay.

It's a sad truth, I know, but there isn't much we can do about it, except not watch it.

Reality Television definitely has a future, unfortunately.
Between the 900,000 millionth season of Survivor and the endless spin offs of dating shows reality TV will not die anytime soon. Unless the human race does. Hmm... that might be a good trade off...
