I've been having an incredibly bad day and the sorts of things I usually use to cheer myself up like listening to music, reading, etc aren't working. I figured I'd ask other Escapists to post pictures or stories that cheer them up. I realise this will have been done before but I didn't notice anything when I skimmed my search and to be honest I didn't really feel like spending ages looking.

P.S. Feel free to also share stories about your crappy days.

I usually do something I enjoy to cheer me up.
You could always check out F My Life [http://www.fmylife.com/] and see how bad your day could've been. There's nothing like the suffering of others to feel better.

When I'm having a terrible day and the usual music, movies, etc., don't work, I like to go out for a drive (or a walk if I'm low on gas). It's a good way to be on your own and to just get out of your head for a bit.

I was kinda hoping that this was a thread to tell about bad days - I woulda told you all about this week; the worst week of my life so far.

On topic, though; I listen to angry music, go driving, write emo poetry, play Rock Band til I'm sore.

I'm also pretty sure I typed all that out once today already - search better, next time.

I can't drive and I've tried walking into town but thanks for the suggestion.

Well, it is the 40th Anniversary of the Moon landing, so maybe a little "themed" pick me up is in order:

If you want to talk about your week go ahead. The more posts in my thread the better I'll feel.

I was walking down the street in a heavy coat and camoflauge pants, believe it or not it was pretty cold out that day. I saw a women walking with headphones on, she seemed to be around the age of 20-25, and i could see a car was about to hit her.

I ran up to her and pulled her out of the way just as the car skid, she would have made it anyway, but it just seemed dramatic at the time. I asked her her name, and she told me "*****" and i responded "Excellent". I quickly pulled out my cell-phone and said "This is Commander Navarette, the target is safe and secure".

She asked me what that was just all about, still a bit dumb-struck from the near-crash, and i said "Ma'am, your son is very important, take care of yourself." She had told me she didn't have a son, and i was a bit mad that i didn't think of it, so i thought quickly and said "Don't worry, you will" and walked away. The thought she might possibly think i was from the future really made my day.

Another guy on the Escapist I talk with often has the following outlook:
Well, at least you aren't bleeding from the ass.
Unless you are truly unfortunate, chances are that's right.

I just knew someone was going to do it..
It was inevitable.
Indeed it was. And I have just remembered my love for Hong Kong Phooey.
You're welcome, and you're about the 6th or 7th person to comment of my new avatar =)
Loved that show as a kid :D

Buy a tarantula and a muffin of any variety.
Hollow out the muffin and make eight holes in the bottom.
Place the tarantula inside, legs through the holes, and sit back as muffin spider gets into all sorts of zany situations.

The most sure fire way to happiness is to gather all of your friends together and cook bacon for them.
That would be a brilliant suggestion if I wasn't a vegetarian and all my friends weren't elsewhere for the summer.
