I think I'm gonna spend tonight watching a movie with a pizza and a nice mug of cider, but uh-oh! What movie should I watch?

List here your favourite movie, movies you've seen recently and liked, movies you saw ages ago and liked or movies you've heard great things about! Make sure to tell us why you liked/others liked the movie. All genres are welcome.

To get the ball rolling I'll state a movie I loved: The Green Mile.

It was excellent from start to finish with great characterisation, brilliant acting (with superb casting) and it was sad and soppy without once involving romance.

Ooh! <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.226846-2-50-Reviews-Doomsday-2008>Doomsday is one that is really fun to watch, especially with friends, or if you like fun action films.

If you want an actual "good" movie though, track down <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.231661-2-50-Reviews-Snow-Angels-2007>Snow Angels. That movie is awesome.

Awesome, your review made it sound sad. As a chronically melancholic kinda guy this sounds like the perfect movie to push me even further into the depths of depression. I'll go check netflix.

Perfect, loved both those films. Simon Pegg is absolutely hilarious. Have you seen Spaced?

Id have to go with The Shawshank Redemption I thought the acting in that film was brilliant. Or Shutters Island mainly because I thought the story of that film and was really intresting to watch unfold.
Cool, I'll give Shutter Island a look at some point. Not a great fan of DiCaprio though, is he good in it?

EDIT: Just to clarify, on the extreme off-chance that DiCaprio is a secret Escapist, I have no qualms about his acting I just don't tend to like his soppy movies.

Seen 'em all except Inception, which I intend to see as soon as it comes out on DVD.

Pretty much this, with the inclusion of the 1990 Night of the Living Dead.

ALSO: THE FALL. SERIOUSLY, GO WATCH THAT. Right now.

Haha! And claim racial discrimination if they throw us out? I'm half Sicilian so I could claim that I have to stick up for my cultural heritage and, if that fails, make pointed references to the fact that my grandfather migrated to the UK during Mussolini's Mafia crackdown.

What's The Fall about? I've never heard of that one.

Im not a big fan of him either to be honest (though he was also good in Inception in my opinion) but in Shutters Island he plays the character just so well its worth watching it.
Thanks, I'll give it a looksie.

Yes, it is quite a sad film, but it's also beautiful to watch.

Watch Pulp Fiction. You might want to turn down the volume so as not to disturb the wee ones (this movie is about 90% F-Bombs) but it's an incredibly fun movie.

Also, Samuel L. 'Motherfucking' Jackson.

Haha you haemophiliac weirdo. Weren't you posting pictures of 'sexy' vampires earlier?

Still, I admire your moxy for sticking up for those turgid vampire films. You'll get a lot of flak for it.

Seen it and loved it. A truly excellent movie with not a second of wasted film, quite rare that.

I've always loved Leon. Jean Reno in one of his best ever roles, and along the same lines, Ronin. If you want a really interesting watch, dig up Ghost Dog, Its about a gangster who follows the ways of Bushido

Four Lions. It's about a few Muslim Brits training to blow themselves up. And guess what? It's a COMEDY. A masterfully executed parody of all this Mujihadeen business, and the ending is actually pretty uncomfortable to watch, but when it's over, you realize that it's actually the funniest part of the film, an ironic statement delivered in such a way your mind will be blown into your friend's popcorn. And a certain scene where someone explains to someone else how he got 10+ gallons of bleach will shake you for more laughs than any other whole movie did in the past 3 years, and if it doesn't you might not go see it to save up for oil to put on your joints you fucking robot!

Awww leave 'em alone you :p It's a free country-esque forum. Personally I find it refreshing to see somebody liking Twilight as opposed to the usual hatred it spurns. I'm not really into the whole vampire scene but if they like it then good on 'em ^_^

I utterly adored, loved and almost became obnoxious enough to cheer in the cinema (but stopped at the last second and just laughed) when I saw the A-Team. Never in recent months have I see a movie that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. Not to be taken seriously and slightly off balance with the realism but if I cared I wouldn't be watching it now

I watched REC yesterday for the first time it was pretty good, not really scary but still entertaining. Also if you haven't already seen it then watch district 9.
