I don't how many of you watched the Superbowl, or how many paid attention at all, but for those who did I think you might have heard the insufferable dribble that spewed forth from the mouth of commentator John Madden's mentally handicapped mind.

Seriously, he incessantly repeated the same phrases over and over again. And I can only listen to someone who literally cannot go 5 minutes without using the words "big and strong" in reference to other males before I become certain of that persons severly repressed homosexuality.

Please, Please by all that is holy please do not allow John Madden within 100 miles of a commenter's booth, and he is to be banned from the continental United States for 2 weeks before and after the superbowl. I don't are what they do with him, though an elegant solution would be to stick him in a padded room with a cardboard cutout of Al Michaels and a set of football themed coloring books.

Tell me somebody else notices these things.

So you hear the words big and strong and automatically think of having sex with men? Kinky!

He probably should retire but then how would EA release Madden 2017?

John Madden to me is Football.
Ever pay attention to a crowd at a Football game? Over excited and mostly drunk. Ever try to talk to a guy who got drunk while watching Football? John Madden right there.
Also, I rather disliked your reference to homosexuality in an insulting way. It came off as gay bashing and a bit ignorant.
Homosexuality not meant as insult, as merely stating the fact that he sounds like he is suppresing homosexuality. It was also a joke.

And I have no problem with gays/lesbians and apologize if it came off that way.

Luckily I was at a bar and was unable to hear his docile tones. He has definitely been going downhill, but with Paterno and Bowden still around it goes to show you that the old guys aren't going anywhere.

Honestly I go to bars so I don't have to listen to all the commentary. There used to be people called Announcers, who had unique personalities that everyone knew and loved. Now it's just retired coaches and players babbling ridiculous BS.

At least he isn't as bad as Dick Clark, who has trouble counting back from 10.

Best thing John Madden ever did was on Monday Night Football 2 or 3 years ago(Falcons/Giants) I think, when out of the blue he just says, "I like peanut butter"

I don't really mind his commentary, he's just one of those people who only speaks well on one subject. He knows football well, and if you asked him to describe a complex defensive scheme, he'd be fine. He just kind of bumbles through the color commentary and doesn't hold his thoughts together quite as well on the other stuff.

I thought he was fairly good. I don't watch a TON of football but he didn't really seem out of place or repetitive.

Just an FYI though, when he dies they will make a Robot Madden using the voice overs he has done for the last dozen Madden games. I'm pretty sure they have enough sound clips to make it so nobody will ever know he even died.

What John really needs is Pat Summeral(sp?) back. His beautiful color commentary let Madden stick to what he does best in explaining what happened after the play, once he has time to think about it.

Seriously? Boo.

In regards to Madden, I love listening to John Madden. Maybe it's a schadenfreude thing, but his ramblings and nonsensical screen drawings make me smile. That said, he actually did a pretty good job of keeping on task and being informative about play breakdowns and whatnot.

Also, I second the Pat Summerall statement, meaning no disrespect to Al Michaels, but John and Pat were a great duo.
